Red Bull en Ferrari kiezen meer softs voor Britse GP dan Mercedes

Pirelli heeft onthuld welke sets banden de teams geselecteerd hebben voor de Britse Grand Prix. De softs zijn veruit het populairst onder de teams, maar Red Bull Racing en Ferrari hebben toch voor meer softs gekozen dan Mercedes.

Zo'n acht weken geleden maakte Pirelli al bekend dat welke bandencompounds het selecteerde voor de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië. In lijn met de verwachting werd er gekozen voor de drie hardste compounds, de C1's, C2's en C3's. Deze bandencompounds werden eerder in Bahrein en Spanje gebruikt en zullen ook in België en Japan hun opwachting maken.

De teams hebben hun keuzes voor de race op Silverstone inmiddels ingediend bij Pirelli, dat die keuzes dus nu onthuld heeft. Opvallend is dat Red Bull Racing en Ferrari beide meer op de zachte banden inzetten dan Mercedes. De coureurs van de blauwe en rode brigades krijgen negen setjes zachte banden, drie setjes mediums en een setje harde banden. Mercedes kiest daarentegen voor acht sets zachte banden, vier sets mediums en een setje hards.

Renault is het team dat het meeste inzet op de zachtste bandencompounds. Daniel Ricciardo en Nico Hülkenberg worden op Silverstone uitgerust met liefst tien setjes softs, twee setjes mediums en een setje hards.

Waarom slaan ze geen compound meer over?
Bijvoorbeeld C1, C3 en C4. Dat leverde vorig jaar nog weleens wat leuks op.
