Budkowski geeft toe dat Renault 'onder ons potentieel' presteert

Renault lijkt nog niet helemaal tevreden te zijn met het verloop van haar seizoen. Executive director Marcin Budkowski heeft toegegeven dat het team momenteel onder haar potentieel presteert.

Renault staat iets voor de helft van het seizoen 2019 op de vijfde positie bij de constructeurs. De achterstand op McLaren is inmiddels opgelopen tot twintig punten, mede doordat het Britse team wel goed scoorde in Oostenrijk en Renault juist niet. Het hele seizoen wisselt het Franse fabrieksteam al goede en slechte resultaten af, want in Frankrijk en Canada zat het team er bijvoorbeeld wel goed bij.

Budkowski ziet onbenut potentieel bij Renault

Budkowski ziet desondanks dat het project bij Renault de nodige potentie heeft, hoewel hij ziet dat de start van het seizoen lastiger gaat dan verwacht. "Het project blijft veelbelovend. Ik geef toe dat het begin van het jaar lastiger was dan verwacht, maar ik verwachtte ook niet dat het makkelijk zou worden toen ik tekende. Deze sport is slopend", zegt hij tegenover Auto Hebdo.

Toch is Budkowski niet tevreden. "In mijn ogen zijn we een team dat onder haar potentieel presteert. We moeten redelijk zijn - we gaan Mercedes volgend jaar niet verslaan, omdat ze een enorme competitieve voorsprong op ons hebben. We hebben niet de middelen om ze bij te halen en voorbij te gaan. We hebben de potentie om het in de toekomst te doen, maar we moeten momentum opbouwen."

"Eerst moeten we boven onze klasse uitstijgen. Ik wil dat we naar elkaar kijken en zeggen: 'Met wat we hebben, doen we veel goed werk'. Vandaag is dat niet echt het geval. Als we dat wel doen, creëren we momentum dat nieuwe mensen, sponsoren en dergelijke aantrekt. Daarna wordt het tijd om naar de top 3 te gaan kijken. We zijn aan het bouwen voor 2021."

Ik zou persoonlijk best iets willen neerzetten hier maar dan wordt Mr. Marly boos want die vindt dat ik altijd zo gemeen ben tegen Cyril. En het is ook nooit grappig. En Renault is heel zielig en dat mag niet gezegd worden. Dus ik zeg ff niks :)

realisme is ingetreden bij Renault nu eens niet de bluf van Abitoul maar een realistische blik op de werkelijkheid ,misschien wel een begin van echte verbeteringen.

Je kan zeggen wat je wil maar ze zijn wel lekkah aan het bouwen bij dat Renault! Nog ff en ze kunnen zich inschrijven met 4 auto's...

Beneden potentieel.... Dat klinkt als impotent.

Overigens vind ik het een vaag managementverhaal. Valt me nog mee dat hij niet over "wie trekt die kar" en " als de trein gaat rollen" is begonnen.

Maar zonder dollen. Zodra dit soort proza wordt gebezigd in een bedrijf, dan worden er daarna vaak met managers geschoven. Ik zie wat nieuwe items komen binnen een aantal maanden.

Maand geleden blaasden ze nog aardig hoog van de toren na een goed weekend maar nu zien we weer het Renault van de afgelopen seizoenen: zeer wisselvallig presteren en eigenlijk beschamend dat hun klantenteam het een stuk beter doet met hun motor.

  Na Canada schreefik hier ook al dat ze na de loftrompet die ze over zichzelf afbliezen eerst maar eens 3/4 races achter de top te eindigen en je ziet dat hen dit inderdaad niet lukt.
  
  In plaats van na ieder succes te roepen dat ze RB aan gaan vallen moeten ze eerst maar eens het 4e team op de grid worden ..... wederom, eerst 4 races achter elkaar. Budkowski is in ieder geval realistischer dan die hyper hysterische Cyril.
  
  Is er überhaupt nog iemand die Cyril serieus neemt?

  Zal ik het dan maar zeggen? Renault blaast af en toe aardig hoog van de toren maar feit is dat ze al jaren ver achten hun klantenteams aan hobbelen. En met grote rwgelmat krijgen we te horen hoeveel vooruitgang ze wel met hun motor boeken maar ondertussen heeft Honda 1 overwinning en 2 podia gehaald en staat Renault met lege handen te roeptoeteren.

begin eerst eens mee de juiste poppetjes op de juiste plaats te zetten, en beginnen met abiteboul te vervangen, dit heerschap is niet geschikt bevonden voor zijn werk, absoluut koppen laten rollen is het begin van het veranderen

RB en Ferrari ook zeker niet. en zelfs Mclaren wordt lastig te verslaan.
