Hoop op Grand Prix in Miami nog niet helemaal vervlogen

Liberty Media heeft al vanaf hun overname van de Formule 1 haar zinnen gezet op het organiseren van een Grand Prix in Miami. Nadat eerdere pogingen door verschillende omstandigheden keer op keer op niets uitliepen, zijn de plannen nog steeds niet helemaal dood en begraven. Marketingmanager Chloe Targett-Adams van de FOM vertelde, namelijk aan ESPN: "We hebben een langetermijnstrategie en we willen racen in Miami."

Targett-Adams voegde daaraan toe: "De stad is elektrisch, het is een prachtige bestemming en een enorm levendige, dynamische stad die op de Formule 1-kalender thuishoort. Het is echter een complex project om een straatrace te organiseren, want je hebt ook te maken met de belangen van de gemeenschap. We willen namelijk niet onnodig de plaatselijke winkels en bevolking tot last zijn. Het blijkt dat als we de race voor meerdere jaren willen plannen, dat toch wat voeten in de aarde heeft."

"We willen uiteindelijk een locatie hebben in Miami waar iedereen tevreden mee is. Het moet namelijk de mogelijkheid bieden voor een mooie race, zonder buitensporige nadelige gevolgen voor de omgeving," besloot Targett-Adams. De onderhandelingen met Miami zijn dus nog in volle gang en momenteel wordt er gekeken naar de locatie rondom het Hard Rock Stadium, daarmee zouden namelijk zo min mogelijk burgers en winkels de dupe zijn van de wegafzettingen die nodig zijn.

Dat klinkt meer als geschikt voor de Formula E.
Waarschijnlijk is in dit geval de NLe vertaling "modern" of "bijdetijds" geschikter voor het Engelse woord "electric" :-)

  Azerbeidzjan, Bahrein en Verenigde Arabische Emiraten daar wordt ik moe van. Miami is een magneet voor het publiek (mag dat aub ook meetellen?) en dat kan ik van de eerst genoemde drie niet zeggen!

  @Worldtraveler, als ze de layout gebruiken die ze oorspronkelijk hadden bedacht... km's de brug over , een 180 graden bocht en vervolgens diezelfde brug weer terug, dan heeft dat publiek het na 1 race ook wel gezien

  Zoals het hier staat zal het moeilijk gaan worden. Misschien moet er nog een klein woordje tussen “steeds” en “helemaal”....

  Baku heeft een paar mooie races opgeleverd, maar i0.000 of 20.000 toeschouwers da's een aanfluiting... en tribunes precies daar waar het minst gebeurt.
  Ik ben benieuwd hoe ze dat in Miami willen oplossen. De layout beloofd niet heel veel.
  Denk trouwens dat LM zakenrelaties heeft daar ofzo.. de manier waarop ze er maar op blijven hameren.

Hard rock stadium? Daar ligt toch een enorme parkkeerplaats waar ze een baantje op willen leggen, en de eigenaar van dat stadion heeft toch vriendjes bij Liberty.?
