Norris: "Het zou enorm zonde zijn als we geweldig Silverstone verliezen"

Lando Norris is van mening dat het erg zonde zou zijn als Silverstone van de Formule 1-kalender zou verdwijnen. De coureur van McLaren noemt het Britse circuit 'ongelooflijk'.

Dit weekend staat de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië op het programma en mogelijk is dit de laatste. Het is Silverstone namelijk nog niet gelukt om zich te verzekeren van een contract dat de Formule 1 ook na 2019 terug laat keren. Norris, die komend weekend voor het eerst een thuisrace als Formule 1-coureur zal rijden, ziet het evenement graag op de kalender blijven staan.

"Het zou erg zonde zijn. Ik weet zeker dat de sfeer anders zal zijn dan hoe het altijd was. Het is een geweldig circuit en ik weet zeker dat bij de meerderheid Silverstone in hun persoonlijke top 5 staat. Ik denk dat velen ervan houden. Vooral in de huidige Formule 1 en tijdens een kwalificatie is het ongelooflijk. Vorig jaar was de opkomst van het publiek redelijk goed. Het zou echt jammer zijn, maar laten we hopen dat het niet gebeurt.

Thuisrace betekent veel voor Norris

Ondanks de onzekerheid stelt Norris dat hij dit weekend van de sfeer gaat genieten. "Het betekent veel voor me om naar mijn eerste thuisrace als F1-coureur te gaan. Ik heb er veel geracet in de juniorenklassen, maar het is totaal anders om het in de Formule 1 te hebben. Ik kan niet wachten om alle papaya-gekleurde fans te zien, de sfeer te proeven en te genieten van het weekend."

We hebben nog een paar dagen om de rest van de coureurs ook nog soortgelijke uitspraken te laten doen over aanstaande GP.
Maar... Wat vindt Jaques Villeneuve er eigenlijk van?

  Tis natuurlijk wel het mooiste circuit op de F1 kalender.

Het zou ontzettend jammer zijn als er geen Brits GP op de kalender staat.
Waar het gehouden wordt zal mij een reet roesten. Genoeg andere circuits in GB met veel historie.
