Een DRS-zone minder op Hockenheim voor race in 2019

De FIA heeft voorafgaand aan de aankomende editie van de Duitse Grand Prix gesleuteld aan de DRS-zones. In 2018 werden er nog drie zones gebruikt, in 2019 zal dat er eentje minder zijn.

De zone die voor de race van 2019 verwijderd is, is de korte strook op start-finish. Twaalf maanden geleden konden de coureurs daar hun achtervleugel nog wel open zetten. Er blijven echter nog twee DRS-zones over voor het aankomende weekend. De eerste begint na bocht 1 en eindigt voor bocht 2. Na bochtencombinatie 3 en 4 volgt de volgende DRS-zone, die helemaal doorloopt tot bocht 6.

Vorig jaar werd op een aantal circuits een derde DRS-zone geïntroduceerd. Het doel daarvan was het verhogen van het aantal inhaalacties tijdens de races te vergroten. In 2019 is de DRS echter een stuk krachtiger geworden. De achtervleugels zijn door reglementswijzigingen een stuk groter geworden, waardoor de auto's veel meer luchtweerstand hebben dan voorheen. De auto die vooraan rijdt, heeft het daardoor zwaarder, een effect dat door DRS versterkt wordt.

Het Grand Prix-weekend op Hockenheim gaat vrijdag officieel van start met de eerste vrije training. Deze begint om 11.00 uur. De weersverwachting is dat het op vrijdag zeer warm wordt, wat het leven van de coureurs en teams een stuk zuurder kan maken. Op zaterdag en zondag wordt het een stuk koeler, maar is er ook kans op regen.

Weer dat gezeur over drs zones.

Geef gewoon alles vrij en laat de coureurs lekker zelf uitzoeken wanneer ze het willen gebruiken.
