BMW:"Wij gaan klantenmotoren leveren"

BMW wil binnen niet al te lange tijd klantenmotoren gaan leveren aan de privéteams in de Formule 1. Hiervoor moet er wel een akkoord worden getekend over het verminderen van de testdagen tijdens het raceseizoen, ook door Ferrari.

Waarschijnlijk wil BMW in 2006 motoren gaan leveren, aangezien er dan met 2.4 liter V8 motoren gereden moet gaan worden. Hierover is BMW ook nog in gesprek met onder andere Honda en Mercedes om de FIA voor de rechter te slepen. Volgens deze fabrikanten is de verandering in het reglement wat betreft de motoren niet gerechtvaardigt.

Mario Theissen:"We willen in de toekomst klantenmotoren gaan leveren voor de kleinere teams maar dan moet er eerst een akkoord zijn over het testen, pas dan wordt het voor BMW interessant."
