FIA gaat vanaf 2021 bandenspanning nauwkeurig monitoren

Er komen nog meer standaard onderdelen aan. De FIA is van plan om vanaf 2021 standaard meetapparatuur voor de bandenspanning en bandentemperatuur in te voeren, zodat de stewards van relevante data voorzien worden tijdens een GP-weekend.

De reglementen van de Formule 1 worden in 2021 helemaal op de kop gezet. De sportieve en technische reglementen gaan op de schop, terwijl er voor het eerst financiële reglementen komen om de uitgaven van teams te beperken. Een van de opvallende veranderingen voor 2021 is de introductie van velgen met een diameter van 18 inch, terwijl de bandenwarmers vanaf dat moment ook verboden zijn.

Extra data over banden voor teams en FIA

Voor de FIA is dat een reden om meer te weten te komen over de bandentemperatuur en de bandenspanning van de auto's. Vanaf 2021 moeten de auto's daarom van een standaard tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) voorzien zijn. Deze data worden aan de stewards van de FIA en de teams beschikbaar gesteld en mogelijk volgt er ook een toepassing voor de televisiekijkers.

"De planning is om per 2021 een standaard systeem in te voeren dat de bandentemperatuur en bandenspanning in de Formule 1 gaat monitoren. Het doel is om de verzamelde data beschikbaar te maken voor de FIA en de teams met een standaard format en dezelfde nauwkeurigheid. Tevens zal een standaard meetsysteem ervoor zorgen dat het herkennen en het verbruik van banden beter te monitoren is", stelt een woordvoerder van de FIA tegenover Motorsport.com.

Tender sluit eind augustus, begin oktober meer duidelijkheid

Wie de leverancier gaat worden van de TPMS, is nog niet bekend. De FIA heeft een tender uitgeschreven, waarin leveranciers hun interesse in de productie ervan bekend kunnen maken. Die tender sluit op 30 augustus. Begin oktober moet er een leverancier gekozen worden, zodat een prototype van het systeem getest kan worden tijdens de eerste tests met de 18-inch banden in december.

De sensor moet alle banden in de garage van een team monitoren en ook de temperaturen van de velgen, de interne lucht en het binnenste karkas meten. Het contract voor de leverancier zal van 2021 tot en met 2023 lopen, maar de FIA heeft ook de optie om het contract daarna nog met drie jaar te verlengen.

  Zonder bandenwarmers , maar wel de banden uit een verwarmde oven/opslag halen.
  Straks staan er overal bbq's in de pitlane. ;-)

Totaal waardeloos..........met bandenspanning moet je kunnen spelen om iets te compenseren of voordeel te behalen.

  Er staat 'Monitoren', niet 'Reguleren'. Dus dat zou betekenen dat het er zelf nog mee kunnen spelen door teams/coureurs niet -direct- in gevaar is.
  Anderzijds staat er ook : "De sensor moet ... waslijst ... meten."
  Het lijkt me stug dat dat allemaal met 1 sensor moet gebeuren, dus misschien is de keuze voor het woord 'monitoren' ook wel niet correct.
  Ik vind het hoe dan ook ook een stupide keuze, die weer een stukje F1 in een keurslijf drukt. Ook bij 'monitoren' komen nu alle teams van elkaar te weten wat ze op bandengebied doen. Haalt een stukje inventiviteit en individualiteit weg en lijkt mij daarom niet wenselijk.

2021?? kan je tegenwoordig voor een paar euro elke auto mee updaten (als het er nog niet standaard op zit... lijkt me voor F1 een kleinigheid om het gelijk per 2020 te implementeren , als dat een maatregel is die nuttig cq nodig is...
