Video: Maak kennis met de KymiRing, het gloednieuwe GP-circuit van Finland

Het nieuwe circuit van Finland staat op de MotoGP-kalender voor 2020, maar gisteren kwamen de MotoGP Testteams al een beproeving brengen op het circuit. Stefan Bradl, Sylvain Guintoli, Michele Pirro, Bradley Smith en Mika Kallio kregen maandag de eer om de eerste mijlen te maken op het net afgebouwde circuit in Finland. Om 11 uur kwam de eerste coureur naar buiten op het natte circuit. De Finse fans waren in grote getalen aanwezig om voor het eerst sinds 1982 getuige te zijn van MotoGP actie binnen de landgrenzen.

Finland leverde de Formule 1 meerdere wereldkampioenen, maar organiseerde nog nooit zelf een F1-race. Met de nieuwe KymiRing moet daar verandering in komen, al is het circuit eigenlijk bedoeld voor MotoGP-races.

      De eerste bochten na het lange rechte stuk bedoel je denk ik en niet de eerste bochten na start-finish? Ik vind het een beetje een mix van delen van Silverstone, Shanghai qua lang recht stuk, gevolgd door Suzuka en om af te sluiten met het stadion deel van Hockenheim.

    Mooie baan! Beetje smal misschien, maar ik kan wel wat circuits noemen die ik graag van de kalender vervangen zie worden door dit stukje asfalt. Ik nomineer Sochi.

    Behoorlijk schrijven valt niet mee voor de heren hier, het is Kymi ring en geen Kimy ring.

    Wil er wel eens een F1-wagen over zien denderen. Lastig in te schatten of het een mooi (inhaal) circuit zal zijn.

    NB.
    Ik zie twee schrijfwijzes: KimyRing en KymiRing. Laatste is de juiste imo.
