Verstappen en Leclerc in top 50 meest interessante sporters voor marketing

Terwijl Charles Leclerc en Max Verstappen inmiddels al meerdere keren met elkaar in gevecht waren op het circuit, strijden naast het circuit de bedrijven om een van beiden aan zich te binden om hun merk te promoten. De twee jonge toptalenten in de Formule 1 blijken enorm interessant voor bedrijven om hun merk als jong, uitdagend en avontuurlijk neer te zetten.

SportsPro stelde een lijst samen van de 50 meest interessante sporters voor marketingdoeleinden en nam daarbij in ogenschouw de leeftijd, nationaliteit, sympathie, charisma en de bereidheid om vermarkt te worden van de sporters. Ook werd gekeken naar social media-aandacht en de effectiviteit van die aandacht voor de bedrijven. In de lijst waarbij bijvoorbeeld het grootste voetbaltalent van dit moment, Kylian Mbappé, op plek elf staat en Nederlands meest bekende vrouwenvoetbalster Lieke Martens op plek 42 verschijnt, scoren Max Verstappen en Charles Leclerc een negentiende en achtste plek.

De Nederlander en de Monegask zullen dus naast hun riante salarissen bij Red Bull Racing en Ferrari ook voldoende marketinginkomsten kunnen genereren de komende jaren. Voor Nederlandse bedrijven zal bovenstaande niet als een grote verrassing komen, Max Verstappen heeft zich op dit moment namelijk al aan verschillende merken verbonden. Zo heeft hij partnerships met onder andere Jumbo, Exact, G-Star Raw en Ziggo Sport en die lijst zal de komende jaren alleen maar groeien.

Max is miljardair voor zijn 30e, no worries. Die gaat voor een eigen circuit, met mega imposant wagenpark, om zichzelf, Jos, en zijn vrienden te vermaken in zijn vrije tijd. Ricciardio is ook altijd welkom ;)

  Dat verschil komt uit het feit dat dit globaal bekeken is. Leclerc is nu eenmaal iets interessanter (voor marketing) dan Max. Kan toch?

  Ofwel, het is een beetje natte vingerwerk.
  
  Als er een meme onstaat als "i am stupid" dat vervolgens trending wordt op social media kan Leclerc zomaar ineens een hoge score krijgen op deze lijst. Daarnaast zal Leclerc bijvoorbeeld een grotere stijging hebben gehad op social media omdat hij voordat hij naar Ferrari ging nog vrij onbekend was. De tools maken een voorspelling voor de volgende 3 jaar en de resultaten van die tools worden hierdoor beinvloed.
  
  Of een sporter werkelijk interessant is ligt uiteindelijk toch vooral aan het merk dat je probeert te promoten.

  Het gaat hier echt voornamelijk om metingen en trends op bijvoorbeeld social media.

Euh..... Verstappen begrijp ik, maar Leclerc totaal niet. Hij is helemaal niet zo populair, dus hoezo zou hij marketingtechnisch interessant zijn??

  Hierboven al uitgelegd. Leclerc is vrij nieuw in het circus en krijgt pas nu naamsbekendheid. De tools die social media activiteiten scannen zien dan een opwaartste trend en baseren daar hun voorspelling op.
  
  Daarnaast zijn er behoorlijk wat Leclerc memes geweest ("I am stupid") waardoor Leclerc ineens een trending onderwerp wordt op social media.
  
  Ze hebben echt niet honderden sporters individueel beoordeeld en daarna afzonderlijk met elkaar vergeleken om tot deze top 50 te komen. Dat kan ook niet, want voordat je klaar bent met het onderzoek zou je data al niet meer actueel zijn.
  
  Dit is gewoon calibreren van de software die vervolgens deze lijst calculeert en dat publiceren ze ieder jaar.
