Opmerkelijk: FIA onderzocht commentaar van Lewis Hamilton

Het overkoepelende orgaan van Formule 1 heeft onderzocht of Mercedes tijdens de verplichte sluiting van het zomerreces de regels overtreden heeft.

Tijdens de zomerpauze zijn de teams volgens de regels verplicht om een strikte fabriekssilstand in acht te nemen. Deze stilstand zou 'elke arbeidsactiviteit' moeten verbieden.

Lewis Hamilton vertelde tijdens zijn perspraatje met onder andere GPToday.net dat hij tijdens de zomerpauze een 'dialoog' had met zijn Mercedes ingenieurs om te kijken 'wat men nog aan de auto konden verbeteren'.

Britse kranten melden dat de FIA-race directeur Michael Masi de situatie onderzocht toen hij hoorde over Hamilton's opmerkingen. Mercedes ontkent dat het de regels heeft verbroken en dezelfde media is ervan verondersteld dat Masi tevreden is geweest met de uitleg van het team.

"Lewis verwees naar contact tijdens de week na de Hongaarse Grand Prix. Lewis was al begonnen met zijn zomerstop, maar het team werkte nog door tot de volgende vrijdag", was de verklaring van de woordvoerder van Mercedes.

    Dit is weer zo'n typische FIA regel, waar je weer mazen in de wet kunt vinden. Verplicht dan gewoon de teams en de coureurs dat ze vanaf datum x t/m datum x verplicht zomerstop heeft (soort bouwvak) en niet dat de coureurs op een ander tijdstip beginnen met hun zomerstop dan de rest van het team......

      Kijk bij het doorlopen uit dat je niet weer op je plaat gaat. De beneveling in dat kleine beetje hersenen dat er bij jou onder zit gaat steeds vreemdere dingen met je doen.

    Je kunt ook met je hoofdengineer afspreken op de Malediven en daar onder het genot van een cocktail nog het een en ander bespreken..... Tsja, toevallig dezelfde vakantie geboekt.... ;)

      Lewis had het misschien beter niet kunnen zeggen..... Dan was er sowieso niets aan het handje geweest....
      Ik denk dat er telefonisch nog heel wat besproken wordt tussen coureurs en teamleden..... Bij elk team gebeurt dit wel.....

    Van de kant van Lewis is het geen probleem lijkt me, voor zijn engineers lijkt het toch al gauw teveel op werken dus dat is niet helemaal kosher. Toch lijkt me dit niet belangrijk genoeg.

    Toto Wolff suggereerde echter dat er keihard gewerkt werd tijdens de break:
    “Our team members in Brixworth worked straight through the F1 summer break to improve the performance and reliability of our Power Unit; in Brackley, we used the relatively quiet days to do some work on our factory.

    “Summer shutdown was a welcome break after some very busy weeks in July and early August, but now we’re excited to go racing again. While the majority of our colleagues in Brackley had the chance to recharge their batteries for the second half of the season, other team members were carrying the baton over the past weeks.”

    Als de FIA hier niks mee doet zetten ze zichzelf voor schut.

      Ja, dat klopt. Productie gaat echt dicht. Teams weten al wel welke aanpassingen er na de zomerstop naar Spa en Monza gaan. Productie is geen last minute dingetje.

      Dan moeten ze voor de gein ook meteen ff een tap op alle telefoons van coureurs en teammedewerkers gaan leggen tijdens de zomerstop..... Dan zul je zien dat bijna iedereen wel af en toe met elkaar belt en dan wat bespreekt over het "werk"...

      Wel jammer van je Calimero opmerking... dat dan weer wel....
