Waarom Ferrari twee jaar na 70-jarig jubileum nu haar 90-jarig jubileum viert

Ferrari vierde woensdag in Milaan een groot feest ter ere van jaar 90-jarig bestaan, maar twee jaar geleden reed de Scuderia al met logo's ter ere van het 70-jarig jubileum rond. Wat is de logica daarachter?

In 2017 vierde Ferrari een groot feest ter ere van het 70-jarig bestaan. De Formule 1-bolide van het team werd omgedoopt tot de SF70H en tijdens de Italiaanse Grand Prix van dat jaar werd er uitgebreid stilgestaan bij die verjaardag. Dit jaar pakt Ferrari echter nog groter uit om het feest er ere van het 90-jarige bestaan te vieren. Is het Italiaanse merk in de afgelopen twee jaar dan twintig jaar ouder geworden?

Twee verschillende jubileums in 2017 en 2019

Het antwoord daarop is nee en het verschil kan verklaard worden doordat er eigenlijk twee verschillende jubileums gevierd worden in 2017 en 2019. In 2017 bestond Ferrari als onafhankelijk merk 70 jaar, terwijl dit jaar het 90-jarig jubileum van het raceteam Scuderia Ferrari gevierd wordt.

Scuderia Ferrari werd in 1929 opgericht als raceteam en dit is het jubileum dat dit jaar en met name dit weekend gevierd wordt. Al snel werd er een alliantie gevormd met Alfa Romeo, dat momenteel in de Formule 1 weer een van de tegenstanders van Ferrari is. In de vroege jaren '30 werd het door Enzo Ferrari opgerichte team een semi-fabrieksteam van Alfa en later, toen Alfa Romeo zich terugtrok uit de Grand Prix-racerij, werd Ferrari zelfs het verkapte fabrieksteam van de fabrikant.

Ferrari bouwt eerste eigen auto in 1947

In 1937 keerde Alfa terug, waarbij Scuderia Ferrari opgekocht werd en een nieuwe naam kreeg. Enzo Ferrari vertrok en richtte in 1939 een nieuw bedrijf op. Daarvoor mocht hij van Alfa Romeo de naam Ferrari gedurende vijf jaar niet gebruiken voor activiteiten met auto's en in de racerij, waardoor hij het bedrijf de naam Auto Avio Construzioni gaf.

Pas na de Tweede Wereldoorlog besloot Ferrari over te gaan op een andere naam voor zijn bedrijf. AAC werd hernoemd tot Ferrari en de racetak ging Società Esercizio Fabbriche Automobili e Corse, kortwerg SEFAC, heten. In 1947 produceerde het merk haar eerste eigen auto: de Typo 125. In 2017 werd uitgebreid stilgestaan bij dit moment in de historie van Ferrari.

Wanneer is de naam Scuderia Ferrari teruggekeerd? Want als ik het goed begrijp, is die naam in 1937 verdwenen, toen het door Alfa werd opgekocht.

  SpA is ongeveer wat in Italië voor BV. doorgaat.

Ferrari is van oorsprong privateer en een raceteam. Zag dat laatst ook in een docu over de De Le Mans battle tussen Ford en Ferrari.
