Pirelli toont 18-inch band voor 2021 met Renault als eerste testteam

Voorafgaand aan de Formule 2-race op Monza in Italië nam Jean Alesi de F2-ontwikkelingsauto over het circuit om de nieuwe 18-inch banden van Pirelli te presenteren.

De banden zullen volgend seizoen in de Formule 2 debuteren, voorafgaand aan hun introductie in Formule 1 in 2021. Een intensief testprogramma is al in volle gang, waarbij de Formule 2 en Pirelli dit seizoen samenwerken om de banden optimaal te maken. Sommige Formule 2-coureurs hebben de banden al mogen aanvoelen, volgende week zal het eerste Formule 1-team de banden op de proef nemen. Het team van Renault zal het 18-inch bandentestprogramma van Pirelli uitvoeren op het circuit van Paul Ricard op 12 en 13 september. Sergey Sirotkin is benoemd voor de test, maar het team heeft nog geen officiële verklaring afgelegd. Renault is een van de drie teams die zich hebben aangemeld om deze banden te testen. De anderen zijn McLaren en Mercedes.

Jean Alesi toont de banden voor Italiaans publiek

Voorafgaand aan de hoofdrace van de Formule 2 op Monza in Italië, nam Jean Alesi de F2-ontwikkelingsauto mee om de nieuwe 18-inch banden van Pirelli te presenteren. Jean Alesi is erg tevreden met de nieuwe band. “Het was een geweldige ervaring om het Italiaanse publiek en de rest van de wereld te laten zien hoe de Formule 2-auto eruit zal zien in 2020 met de nieuwe 18-inch Pirelli-banden. Ik heb echt genoten, deze auto is geweldig om te rijden!"
