Maldonado na ontgroening in Melbourne klaar voor echte werk

Williams-coureur Pastor Maldonado deed anderhalve week geleden in Australië zijn eerste ervaringen als Formule 1-rijder op. Volgens eigen zeggen stak de GP2-kampioen daar veel van op. Lessen die hij komend weekend in Maleisië in de praktijk wil brengen.

Maldonado: Na een moeilijk begin in Melbourne ben ik meer dan klaar voor Sepang. Ondanks het resultaat in Albert Park voel ik me nu meer op mijn gemak in de auto en binnen het team. Sepang is een technisch circuit dat ik al ken uit mijn GP2 Asia Series-optreden in 2009. Ik denk dat het ons hier beter zal vergaan aangezien we veel potentie hebben, als we maar hard blijven werken.

Vooruitkijkend is het doel om elke race te verbeteren. Ik zou graag na de kwalificatie en de race in de top tien staan, en dat is bereikbaar. Natuurlijk had het beter geweest als we in Australië de race hadden uitgereden, maar positief is dat ik ervaring opgedaan heb en nu weet hoe een Grand Prix-weekend en alle bijbehorende procedures zich ontvouwen.
