Rich Energy officieel uit teamnaam Haas F1 verwijderd voor Singapore

Rich Energy Haas F1 Team is niet meer. De FIA heeft middels haar inschrijflijst voor de Grand Prix van Singapore bevestigd dat de Britse energiedrankjesmaker uit de officiële teamnaam van de Amerikaanse renstal gehaald is.

Maandag maakte Haas F1 bekend dat de sponsorovereenkomst met Rich Energy per direct met wederzijdse instemming beëindigd werd. Daarmee kwam er een einde aan een korte, turbulente samenwerking tussen de partijen. Rich Energy werd eind 2018 gepresenteerd als titelsponsor van het Amerikaanse team en in 2019 ging de samenwerking van start met een zwart-gouden auto, een verwijzing naar de kleuren van Rich Energy.

Daarna volgden de controverses zich in rap tempo op. Eerst raakte Rich Energy in een juridische strijd verwikkeld met Whyte Bikes, dat succesvol claimde dat het bedrijf haar logo gekopieerd had. In het weekend van de Britse Grand Prix dreigde CEO William Storey de sponsordeal te annuleren, om vervolgens door de overige aandeelhouders uit zijn functies ontheven te worden. Afgelopen week kwam de samenwerking met Haas F1 dan wel tot een einde.

GPToday.net meldde maandag al dat Haas F1 het benodigde papierwerk bij de FIA had ingediend om de naamswijziging officieel te maken en de FIA heeft daarmee ingestemd. Vanaf de Grand Prix van Singapore staat het team ingeschreven als Haas F1 Team, terwijl dat eerder dit jaar dus nog Rich Energy Haas F1 Team. Daarmee lijkt het hoofdstuk Rich Energy zo goed als afgesloten te zijn voor het team van Gene Haas.

Dit relatief nieuwe energy drink merk wil op korte termijn de strijd aangaan met RedBull, zowel in de racewereld op de baan als in de koelkast van de wereldbevolking.

  Hopelijk eindelijk een uniforme livery over alle Haas racewagens. Dus een zelfde kleurstelling als waar Haas in de Amerikaanse klassen mee rijdt.
  Wat BWT bij Force India voor elkaar heeft gekregen zeg maar.
  In bijna iedere raceklasse zie je wel een roze/witte auto rijden, dan heb je herkenbaarheid.

  (zoals BWT bij Racing Point)

  Ze zouden misschien wat meer de Amerikaanse identiteit moeten benadrukken in de livery en daarmee proberen meer Amerikaanse sponsors aan te trekken.

  Daar heb je inderdaad een hoofdsponsor voor nodig. Maar juist daar ligt de uitdaging voor Gene Haas. Die moet een sponsor weten te strikken die voor wereldwijde bekendheid wil gaan (ipv bekendheid in Noord Amerika).
  Hij is de eigenaar van de teams en hij is ook degene met de juiste connecties om iets dergelijks voor elkaar te krijgen.
  
  MBT FI, ze bestaan niet meer, maar BWT heeft toen met FI dit voor elkaar gekregen en RP heeft bij de overname van FI dit contract terecht aangehouden. Het levert voldoende geld op en het is een prima livery (want erg herkenbaar en zichtbaar in meerdere race klassen).

  Danica Patrick reed voor Haas in de fel groene Go Daddy livery, maar helaas sponsort Go Daddy niet meer sinds Danica's vertrek. Dat zou ook wel een mooie livery zijn in de F1.... Ook lekker anders en goed herkenbaar tussen de toch veelal saaie liveries...

  Tevens zal Haas niet langer gebruik maken van Ferrari motoren, maar zullen zij in plaats daarvan de Honda power unit in de auto plaatsen.
