Vandaag: de geboortedag van de te vroeg overleden Anthoine Hubert

Het is inmiddels drie weken geleden dat Anthoine Hubert overleed tijdens een horrorcrash in de Formule 2-race op Spa-Francorchamps. Vandaag zou de Fransman zijn 23ste verjaardag gevierd hebben.

Hubert liet tijdens de hoofdrace van de Formule 2 op Spa-Francorchamps het leven bij een enorme crash na Raidillon. De coureur van Arden kwam in de bandenstapels terecht, werd midden op de uitloopstrook gekatapulteerd en vervolgens in de flank aangereden door Juan Manuel Correa. De Ecuadoraans-Amerikaanse coureur ligt nog altijd in het ziekenhuis, maar voor dit weekend was er eindelijk wat beter nieuws over zijn situatie te melden.

Voor Hubert mocht medische hulp niet baten: hij overleed een uur na de crash. Drie weken voor zijn 23ste verjaardag kwam er dus een eind aan het leven van de coureur die dit jaar volledig opgenomen werd in het opleidingsprogramma van Renault. Dit jaar racete Hubert dus in de Formule 2, nadat hij vorig jaar kampioen geworden was in het laatste GP3-seizoen.

Ter ere van zijn 23ste verjaardag postte Renault een video op haar Instagram-pagina als eerbetoon aan Hubert.
