Sebastian Vettel niet helemaal tevreden met P3: "Niet gemaximaliseerd"

Het is Sebastian Vettel wederom niet gelukt om de hegemonie van Charles Leclerc in de kwalificatie te doorbreken. De Ferrari-coureur moet wederom genoegen nemen met de derde startplek en is daar niet helemaal tevreden mee.

Ferrari lijkt sinds de zomerstop het te kloppen team te zijn. Het heeft tot nu toe alle mogelijke pole positions en zeges gepakt na de zomervakantie en ook in Rusland staat er weer een mat-rode bolide op pole. Voor de vierde keer op rij was die eer weggelegd voor Leclerc, die Vettel wederom de baas was in de kwalificatie. De Duitser had voor zijn gevoel niet het maximale uit de Ferrari gehaald.

"Ik ben niet helemaal blij. Ik denk niet dat ik het maximale uit de auto gehaald heb. Ons plan werd een beetje verstoord in Q1, maar tegen de tijd dat Q3 aanbrak was het weer in orde. De run naar de eerste bocht is lang, dus we gaan het zien. We staan op een andere bandenstrategie dan de Mercedessen, maar de race wordt morgen pas beslist. De snelheid zit erin, dus dat moeten we vasthouden."

Vettel ruikt kansen bij start in Rusland

Vorige week wist Vettel vanaf de derde startpositie de Grand Prix van Singapore te winnen, hoewel hij daar wel een klein beetje hulp van de strategen van Ferrari voor nodig had. De viervoudig wereldkampioen is van mening dat hij ook in Rusland nog een kans maakt op de zege, waarbij hij zijn hoop deels vestigt op de start van de race.

"Ten eerste heb je een goede start nodig, daarna ga je pas aan de rest denken. Er is mogelijk wel een voordeeltje als je niet op de eerste rij start, maar je bent altijd geneigd om dat te zeggen als je in die situatie zit. We zullen zien wat er gaat gebeuren."

  Misshien wel,maar als Vettel echt een mooie gladde strakke onderkut doet zou het zomaar eens kunnen werken.

  Zal me ook verbazen als Lewis op geel Vettel op rood en met ferrari power achter zich kan houden tot de eerste bocht. Dan moet seb wel een slechte start maken anders zie ik hem er zo voorbij gaan, een kilometer tot bocht 1 is echt lang. Ingrediënten voor een leuke race zijn er weer.

  Het is zeker geen slecht punt om de race te winnen. Maar het is vraag hoe goed de racepace van die twee voor hem is en hoe snel hij eventueel voorbij kan komen.
