Over anderhalve week staat de eerstvolgende Grand Prix pas weer op het programma, maar dat betekent niet dat de coureurs na de Russische Grand Prix even uit kunnen rusten.

Dat geldt bijvoorbeeld ook voor Sebastian Vettel. De Ferrari-coureur viel zondag na een sterke race in Rusland uit met een kapotte MGU-K, maar hij had niet lang de tijd om te treuren. De viervoudig wereldkampioen was maandag namelijk alweer in Italië te vinden voor een aantal tests met zijn voormalige kartteam, Tony Kart.

Vettel was afgereisd naar de kartbaan van Lonato om een tweetal karts van het Tony Kart Racing Team uit te proberen. Hij nam plaats in een OK-kart zonder versnellingen, om later op de dag voor het eerst in een handgeschakelde KZ-kart plaatsnam.

Vettel was in Italië om een aantal simulator sessies te doen ter voorbereiding op Suzuka, daarnaast schijnt hij,quote: " een sereen en constructief gesprek met Binotto gehad te hebben ", wat dat ook mag betekenen.
