D'Ambrosio: "We hopen voor morgen op een betere dag"

Virgin Racing-coureur Jerome D'Ambrosio heeft een nare nasmaak aan zijn eerste Formule 1-dag op het circuit van Sepang overgehouden. De Belg was de gehele tweede training toeschouwer doordat zijn team zijn wagen niet op tijd kon repareren na een gebroken wielophanging aan het einde van de eerste sessie.

D'Ambrosio: De dag begon nog goed en we legden snel veel kilometers af. Jammer genoeg hadden we aan het slot van de ochtend een probleem met de rechter voorwielophanging en de schade was onherstelbaar voor de middag. Het is heet, maar ik kan daar goed tegen en het is een geweldig circuit om te rijden, I love it! Alleen spijtig van de problemen. We hopen voor morgen op een betere dag.

Teamgenoot Timo Glock kon wel beide sessies rijden en zijn tijd voldeed ruim aan de 107 procent-regel. Het is moeilijk in te schatten wat iedereen deed, maar zelf hebben we een aardige dag achter de rug. Ik ben vrij blij met hoe de auto zich gedraagt. Alles draait om de banden heel houden. De ene ronde is er niets aan de hand, de volgende ronde ben je seconden langzamer. Het team heeft goed werk geleverd. We zullen zien wat morgen brengt.
