Formule 1 ontkent: "Geen serieuze gesprekken met nieuwe teams"

De Formule 1 heeft gereageerd op de statements van potentiële teams die in 2021 toe willen treden tot de Formule 1. Volgens de sport worden er momenteel geen gesprekken gevoerd met potentieel toetredende teams.

De Formule 1 heeft met ingang van het seizoen 2017 weer tien teams, want voorafgaand aan die jaargang viel Manor weg. Toch is het huidige aantal teams voor een flink aantal mensen een doorn in het oog. Binnen de Formule 1 wordt regelmatig geroepen dat het beter voor de sport zou zijn als er een of twee teams bijkomen. Dat geeft de sport meer zekerheid als een van de teams omvalt en talenten kunnen meer kansen krijgen.

In de afgelopen weken werd duidelijk dat er meerdere groeperingen zijn die de Formule 1 willen betreden. Panthera Team Asia maakte tegenover GPToday.net haar intenties duidelijk om vanaf 2021 op de grid te verschijnen. Op datzelfde moment wil de combinatie Monaco Increase Management in samenwerking met Campos Racing de Formule 1 bestormen, zo maakten zij gisteren via een persbericht bekend.

Hoewel er dus interesse lijkt te zijn, stelt de Formule 1 dat er momenteel geen gesprekken gaande zijn. "De afgelopen dagen hebben een aantal entiteiten de publiciteit gezocht en hun ambitie aangegeven om vanaf 2021 deel te nemen aan het FIA Formula One World Championship. Hoewel de Formule 1 hun interesse waardeert, kunnen we bevestigen dat er geen serieuze gesprekken met personen of bedrijven zijn over de toetreding van een nieuw team."

  Ik las elders dat er wel degelijk gesprekken worden gevoerd. Wellicht verkennend, maar er wordt gepraat. Zal dus wel in de categorie “geen serieuze gesprekken” vallen.

Miljarden business, zelfs al praten ze met belangstellende dan nog komt er niks naar buiten zolang er niks concreet is.. Pas als er iets gemeld wordt door L.M zelf kan je er vanuit gaan dat het serieus is.
