Lewis Hamilton over 2021-bolides: "Het klinkt allemaal geweldig"

In het huidige tijdperk van de Formule 1 is inhalen erg lastig. Doordat de vuile lucht zoveel invloed heeft op de auto, waarbij aerodynamica een grote rol speelt, in het inhalen door de jaren niet verbeterd. De Formule 1 wil dit gaan verbeteren met de nieuwe regels. Ook degraderen de banden te snel, zelfs voordat de coureur een aanvallende positie heeft bereikt. Dit kan veranderen voor het seizoen 2021 onder de nieuwe Formule 1-reglementen, gelooft Lewis Hamilton.

De regerend wereldkampioen van de Formule 1 woonde onlangs een presentatie bij van de FOM samen met de andere coureurs, waarbij Chase Carey en Ross Brawn enkele details van de geplande revolutie van de regels presenteerden aan de coureurs. Tijdens de presentatie toonde de FOM ook verschillende afbeeldingen van de nieuwe bolides. Deze bolides moeten het inhalen vereenvoudigen. Hamilton is overtuigd van de veranderingen: "Het klinkt allemaal geweldig", zegt de Britse Mercedes-coureur.

Alles eruit halen

Hoewel de Formule 1-auto's vanaf 2021 waarschijnlijk ‘ongeveer twee tot drie seconden’ per ronde langzamer worden, denkt Lewis Hamilton dat de actie op het asfalt gaat verbeteren. “Daarom geef ik alles wat ik nodig heb om er deel van uit te maken en het beste eruit te halen voor de fans en voor ons. Ik wil echt met een van deze nieuwe auto's rijden”, legt de vijfvoudig wereldkampioen uit.

Hamilton had eerder kritische reacties geuit op sommige Formule 1-concepten en ideeën verworpen, zoals een kwalificatierace. De ontmoeting met Carey en Brawn aan de vooravond van de Russische Grand Prix in Sotsji bracht echter blijkbaar voor hem een verandering van stemming teweeg.

Er is nog wel wat werk te doen

Hamilton prijst uitdrukkelijk het feit dat de FIA en Liberty Media de Formule 1-coureurs actief benaderen om ze in een vroeg stadium te informeren over de geplande veranderingen. "Er zijn tenslotte veel dingen die kunnen worden verbeterd", zegt Hamilton. “Wij als coureurs werken aan een nog betere relatie met de FIA, ze zijn er nu heel open over.”

  die wint er nog even 2 en dan zwaait hij af. Kan hij mooi aan de slag als analist en zeggen dat hij zo goed was en de rijder in de Mercedes van ´dan´ maar beter moet samenwerken met het team en blabla.

We zullen het zien.. verander de circuits lijkt me ook een goed idee, de meeste zijn saai en ouderwets.
Ik hoor vaak * je kan alleen daar inhalen, moeilijk volgen.. vuile lucht * .. pas circuits aan en maak ze *beter* .
Verleng de races met 10 rondes en verplicht 2 pitstops.

  @Trekhaak: Dat is maar bij enkele circuits het geval. Op de meeste van deze circuits werd ook al in de jaren 90 gereden. Toen was het wel mogelijk om in te halen zonder kunstmatige Mario-Cart knopjes (DRS) op je stuur.

  Trekhaak, complete circuits aanpassen is een beetje als de koe melken door de uiers vast te houden en de koe op en neer te bewegen. Beter dat ze de auto’s aanpakken, zodat we op alle circuits weer spektakel krijgen.

  Gewoon een belgenmop,, Hoe worden in Belgie de koeien gemolken.... één Belg houdt de spenen vast, vier Belgen bewegen de koe op en neer... Overigens laten wij Nederlanders ons uitmelken door één miezerig leugenachtig VVD mannetje.... maar dat terzijde....

  @Snork: Auto's aanpakken.. dat doen ze nu al jaren en er het heeft NIKS opgeleverd.
  Moeilijk volgen, lastig passeren .. dit is al jaren zo dus verandering auto heeft weing zin.
  De bredere banden doen niks, de voor vleugel die dit jaar simpeler is.. ook niks enz.

Ik ben ook zeker benieuwd naar het 2021 seizoen. Hoop vooral dat de reglementen toestaan om wat meer voluit te racen. Mercedes Mercedes weer terug. Lewis nog een laatste jaartje naar McLaren weer in 2021. Nee zonder gekheid ik zie hem niet meer rijden in 2021 de man is dan ook al 36 alweer al hoop ik van wel natuurlijk.
