Overleg tussen technische mannen van de Formule 1-team omtrent de veiligheid van de bolides na Formule 2-crash op Spa

Formule 1-teams onderzoeken hoe ze de veiligheid van het chassis kunnen verbeteren na de megacrash op het circuit van Spa Francorchamps waarbij Formule 2-coureur Anthoine Hubert om het leven kwam. Juan Manual Correa herstelt momenteel van een operatie van zeventien uur in Londen om zijn rechterbeen te redden na de megaklapper.

Andy Green de technische man van het team van Racing Point vertelde dat de teams samen gaan zitten om het chassis nog sterker te maken. Vroeger waren de bolides niet veilig, maar naar een aantal ongelukken is de veiligheid hoog op het lijstje te komen staan. De chassis van tegenwoordig zijn redelijk veilig, zo zagen we vorig jaar bij een zware klapper van Marcus Ericsson op Monza. Andy Green vertelde over de bijeenkomst tegen Wheels24. "We zijn uitgenodigd om de voorschriften met betrekking tot de sterkte van het chassis te analyseren," vertelde Andy Green, de technische baas van Racing Point.

Technische werkgroep komt bijeen

Green zei dat de grootste veranderingen zullen worden aangebracht voor 2021, maar voegde eraan toe: "Iedereen weet wat er al voor 2020 kan worden gedaan. Het onderwerp zal worden besproken tijdens de volgende vergadering van de technische werkgroep," voegde hij eraan toe.

Hij zei echter ook dat bij incidenten zo ernstig als de crash van Hubert-Correa, er een limiet is aan wat kan worden gedaan omdat "de betrokken G-kracht absoluut enorm was".

Je geeft boksers toch ook niet kussentjes om elkaar mee te slaan?
Of ze moeten de coureurs een knop geven om rondom airbags te laten afgaan ofzo. Het interessante aan de sport is dat het ook gevaarlijk kan zijn. Als je dat weghaalt dan kijkt er straks helemaal geen hond meer naar.

  @Niels Nou ja je begrijpt wat ik bedoel. En bovendien, het schijnt dat met de invoer van bokshandschoenen de sport juist dodelijker is geworden. Met blote vuisten was de kans op breuken in de handen veel groter, dus sloeg men veel minder hard dan toen er handschoenen werden ingevoerd.
  Maar een kussengevecht dat is natuurlijk echt stoer :P

Het constante gevaar wat op de loer ligt is een van de dingen die racerij zo intens maken...haal je dat weg dan blijft er weinig heroisch meer over.
Een coureur is een moderne gladiator die zijn leven in de waag legt....halen ze dat aspect weg dan is het snel klaar met de F1..

Het huidige format is al veel en veel te klinisch...innovatie is verdwenen...grote verschillen in techniek en design is helemaal weg...alleen onderhuids is er een beetje verschil maar voor de rest is het eenheidsworst.

Zo is het ook gesteld met de kalender keuze en waar men op welke tijd rijd....circuits die veel op elkaar lijken...altijd maar plannen buiten de gevarenzone qua klimaat.
Elk jaar moeten ze de circuits in een tombola gooien en zodoende een kalender boetseren.....
Geef disigners en engineers de vrije hand om een auto te maken...ik wil grote verschillen zien per team....X-Wings....V10....6-wielers..hoge neus ..lage neus etc etc

Paar dagen geleden ook al zo'n topic. Statistisch kan zo'n horrorcrash eens in de zoveel tijd voorkomen. Voor de rest ligt het probleem vooral op de uitloopstroken die als verlengde van de racebaan worden gebruikt. kleine grindbakken zijn wellicht een optie, maar dan wel natgespoten. Paar jaar geleden was er een heftige crash in de F3 door een stofwolk van het grind.

Gewoon laten racen en niet zo zeuren.

Ze kiezen er zelf voor een weten wat de risico's zijn.
Als ik klim in de bergen accepteert ik ook de risico's. Anders kunnen we met z'n alleen beter thuis blijven.
