Mercedes bezig met sterkste reeks ooit in de Formule 1

Mercedes verzekerde zich in Japan voor de zesde keer op rij van beide wereldtitels. Daarmee is de Duitse constructeur nu officieel bezig met de meest succesvolle reeks ooit in de Formule 1.

Door de zege van Valtteri Bottas en de derde plek van Lewis Hamilton is Mercedes niet meer te achterhalen in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs. Sinds de introductie van de V6-hybridemotoren in 2014 heeft het team beslag weten te leggen op alle constructeurstitels en dat is in 2019 dus niet anders. Mercedes heeft met nog vier races te gaan 177 punten voorsprong op Ferrari, terwijl er nog 176 te verdelen zijn.

De strijd om de wereldtitel bij de coureurs is nog niet definitief beslist, maar het is al wel duidelijk dat de titel naar een van de Mercedes-coureurs gaat. Hamilton verdedigt een voorsprong van 64 punten op Bottas, terwijl Charles Leclerc op 117 punten achterstand heeft. Omdat er nog 104 punten te pakken zijn, gaat de titel dus hoe dan ook naar een Mercedes-coureur.

Het staat daarmee vast dat Mercedes tussen 2014 en 2019 een perfecte twaalf uit twaalf scoort als het om wereldtitels gaat. Daarmee zetten de Zilverpijlen een nieuw record, dat sinds 2004 in handen was van Ferrari. Zij pakten tussen 1999 en 2004 in een tijdsbestek van zes seizoenen elf wereldtitels: zes keer op rij werd Ferrari constructeurskampioen, terwijl Michael Schumacher vanaf 2000 vijf wereldtitels op rij pakte.

In 2020 kans op aanscherpen record

Mercedes heeft in 2020 een mooie gelegenheid om haar eigen record verder aan te scherpen. De reglementen in de Formule 1 veranderen weinig tot niets komend seizoen, waardoor het voor de hand ligt dat het team ook volgend jaar weer mee kan doen in de strijd om de wereldtitels. Pas in 2021 gaan de reglementen weer op de schop: dan volgen grondige veranderingen aan de technische reglementen.

Maar samen met het sportieve aspect vergt dit een enorme inspanning, toewijding en geloof en daarvoor dus dat hoedje af.

Het is aan de concurrentie, met name de andere topteams, om van antwoord te dienen.

  Wat betreft Mercedes GP: een fantastische prestatie, ik kan niet anders zeggen. De zilverpijlen horen in de F1. hetzij als fabrieksteam, hetzij als leverancier van een net zo iconische privateer.

Benieuwd wanneer ze aankondigen dat ze (Mercedes) stoppen met F1,, eind dit jaar of eind volgend-jaar? The new Group structure (PROJECT FUTURE) will take effect when the hive-down is entered in the commercial register at Stuttgart District Court. Daimler then aims to launch the new corporate structure on 1 November 2019.

  Tot Oostenrijk was het zeker niet meer interessant om naar te kijken. Daarna zijn de races gelukkig een stuk spannender geworden. Toch blijft Mercedes het dominante team, wat afgelopen weekend nog maar eens werd onderstreept. Het wordt wel tijd voor een andere kampioen.

Spelen daarbij nog de kaart Bottas op de tweede plaats wk ,door onnodig hamilton binnen te halen,vettel ging in 12 ronden geen 17sec meer goed maken,het probleem was dat Hamilton P1 niet meer ging afstaan ondanks misschien teamorders
