Goed gevoel bij Chase Carey over bekendmaking reglementen 2021

Later vandaag publiceert de Formule 1 de nieuwe reglementen voor het seizoen 2021. Chase Carey en zijn collega's in het bestuur van de Formule 1 hebben een goed gevoel over deze reglementen.

De nieuwe reglementen voor 2021 hadden er eigenlijk eind juni al moeten zijn, maar destijds gingen de teams akkoord met het uitstellen van de publicatie tot eind oktober. Vandaag is de laatste dag voor het verstrijken van de nieuwe deadline en later vandaag (om 17.00 uur Nederlandse tijd) staat er een presentatie op het programma van de technische, sportieve en financiële reglementen.

"We hebben een goed gevoel over de stemronde", vertelde Carey over de publicatie van de nieuwe reglementen tijdens een investor call We zijn door een lang proces gegaan, hebben overlegd met de teams, we hebben met het World Motor Sport Council besproken waar we eerder deze maand over gestemd hebben. Ik ben hoopvol en verwacht dat er een akkoord komt - maar je hebt er geen invloed op."

Budgetcap moet F1 gezonder voor lange termijn maken

Een van de zaken die in 2021 geïntroduceerd gaat worden, zijn de financiële reglementen en het budgetplafond. Op jaarbasis mogen de teams nog maar 175 miljoen dollar per jaar uitgeven, exclusief een aantal uitzonderingen. Carey gaf toe dat het budgetplafond een van de grootste zorgenkindjes was. De grote teams pleitten voor een uitstel van de reglementen tot 2022, zodat in 2020 geen enorme uitgaven gedaan worden voor 2021.

"Er is rumoer geweest rond het budgetplafond, maar realistisch gezien bouwen de teams ieder een nieuwe auto, ongeacht de omstandigheden", stelt Carey. "Dit is een transitie en we vinden het belangrijk om daarmee verder te gaan. Wat we echt doen, is overstappen naar een structuur voor de lange termijn die gezonder is voor op en naast het circuit, en gezonder is voor de teams."

hij bedoelt natuurlijk de positie van zijn aandeelhouders want die zijn alles behalve tevreden.
De teams zullen hoe dan ook van alles verzinnen om het te omzeilen en het gaat ze nog lukken ook nog let maar op.
