Mick Schumacher: "Mijn relatie met Vettel is vergelijkbaar met die van pap en Sebastian"

Mick Schumacher heeft zich uitgelaten over de relatie die hij onderhoudt met Sebastian Vettel. De Formule 2-coureur omschrijft die verstandhouding als vergelijkbaar met de manier waarop Vettel met vader Michael omging.

Begin 2019 maakte Schumacher zijn debuut in de Formule 2, nadat hij vorig jaar op zeer overtuigende wijze kampioen werd in het Europees Formule 3. Vooral in de tweede helft van het seizoen was hij toen overtuigend de beste. Dit jaar heeft Schumacher het lastiger: in Hongarije pakte hij tijdens de sprintrace weliswaar zijn eerste zege in de Formule 2, maar met de twaalfde positie in het kampioenschap doet hij vooralsnog absoluut niet mee om de prijzen.

Schumacher komt natuurlijk uit een echte racefamilie, waarbij vader Michael zeven keer wereldkampioen in de Formule 1 werd. Het is echter onduidelijk of het jonge talent wel bij zijn vader om adviezen kan vragen wat betreft autosport: het is onbekend hoe het met de voormalig Ferrari-coureur gaat, nadat hij eind 2013 betrokken was bij een zwaar skiongeluk. Wel kan Schumacher junior terecht bij Vettel, zo verklapte hij aan Motorsport-Magazin.com.

"Ik denk dat mijn vader hetzelfde was voor Sebastian als wat Sebastian voor mij is. Hij is iemand met wie ik een nauwe band heb en met wie ik over autosport kan praten. Ik heb veel respect voor hem. We praten veel over autosport en ik probeer zijn advies op te nemen en het ook toe te passen. Hij heeft ten slotte toch een aantal jaren meer ervaring in deze sport", vertelde Schumacher.

Ferrari Driver Academy 'een grote familie'

Sinds dit seizoen is Schumacher ook onderdeel van de Ferrari Driver Academy. Daar wordt hij voorbereid en klaargestoomd voor een toekomst die hopelijk voor de Duitser in de Formule 1 ligt. Schumacher heeft het goed naar zijn zin in het opleidingsprogramma. "Het is gewoon een enorm grote familie. Je voelt je goed als je hier bent en je voelt je onderdeel van de Ferrari-familie."

Hoewel het niet gezegd word is mijn eerste gedachte als ik dit lees is dan toch dat Mick weinig adviezen van zijn vader krijgt en dat de toestand van Michael dusdanig is dat hij Mick niet dat advies kan geven. Waarom zou Mick anders adviezen van Vettel nodig hebben als zijn pa als zevenvoudig wereldkampioen heb alles kan leren wat ie moet weten.

Ik hoop nog steeds dat het stiekem veel beter met Michael gaat dan we alleen maar durven hopen, maar ik denk dat het helaas niet zo mag zijn.

Idd niemand die weet hoe het met Schumi gaat, maar ook al zou het wel goed gaan met Schumi, is advies van de Vettel nooit verkeerd tuurlijk, die is nog steeds actief en weer van de huidige zaken gewoon erg veel af.

  hoe slecht het gaat weten we ook niet. Maar (en dit is puur mijn mening) is het een half kasplantje, Geestelijk beperkt en maar af en toe aanspreekbaar. dat is maar een gok hoor maar echt alles wijst er op. Hopelijk is het anders maar dat lijkt me sterk.

Al dat gespeculeer over de gesteldheid van Michael is gebaseerd op lucht. Valt niets zinnigs over te zeggen en het gaat, buiten zijn naasten, niemand iets aan.

Laat Mick lekker van zijn autosportavontuur genieten en geniet van het feit dat de iconische namen Schumacher en Ferrari weer aan elkaar zijn verbonden! :-)
