Analyse long runs: Mercedes snel in Austin, maar Verstappen in de buurt

De eerste dag van de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten zit er alweer op. De resultaten van de tweede vrije training geven meestal een indicatie van het tempo wat de teams kunnen halen in de kwalificatie, maar hoe zit het met de racepace?

Lewis Hamilton was de snelste man van de dag, maar ook het tempo in de racesimulatie lag hoog. De regerend wereldkampioen was op de harde band veruit de snelste man en was in de run op softs in ronden zonder verkeer ook constant snel. De snelste man op de mediums was Charles Leclerc, terwijl Valtteri Bottas de snelste van iedereen was op de zachtste bandencompound.

De rondetijden van Max Verstappen in de lange runs zagen er ook goed uit. De Nederlander was in zijn Red Bull RB15 zowel op de softs als op de mediums constant en redelijk in de buurt van het beste tempo. De volledige long runs zijn in onderstaande tabel te bekijken.

  Ja ik vraag me af wie de coureur "Ronde" is, zo'n slechte tijd weet meneer of mevrouw Ronde niet neer te zetten!
  Kan ook zijn doordat ik het via de mobiel bekijk maar dit is inderdaad MS Word skills 10jarige.

Hamilton duidelijk weer de minste auto. Ik denk dat ie dit weekend ECHT kansloos is... tenzij ie natuurlijk iets geniaals uit de hoge hoed tovert..

zit alle 3 wel heel dicht bij elkaar hoor. Mercedes duidelijk iets sneller maar Verstappen en de ferrari rijders zitten er niet heel ver vanaf.

Het zal wel aan mijn mobiel liggen maar van dit broddelwerk is helemaal niks te maken.
Gelukkig had ik de livetiming erbij gisteren en het was duidelijk dat Lewis soms wel 7 tiende per rondje sneller was.
De zege is wat dat betreft allang vergeven bij een normaal race verloop.
Voor p2 en 3 kan er van alles gebeuren en is het wel spannend.

Goh, gisteren een interview met die coureur van dat niet te zuipen frisdrankjes merk en daarin zegt ie dat er op de longruns duidelijk te kort wordt gekomen.
Doet ie zeker een Hammiltontje...

  Kwam ook duidelijk te kort. In de kwali zal Max weer voor de tweede rij vechten en in de race is Charles nog iets sterker en Lewis minimaal een halve seconde per rondje. Die is binnen 10 rondjes uit beeld.

  Op basis van 1 long runnetje? rimmer als je 1 ding wel moet weten is dat de race heel anders kan verlopen. Max kan daar ineens alles uit dat ding halen. dat heeft hij al 4 jaar op rij bewezen. Nee hier ga ik niet in mee.
