Mercedes viert binnenhalen zesde wereldtitels in Brackley en Brixworth

Mercedes heeft woensdag gevierd dat het voor het zesde jaar op rij beide wereldtitels bemachtigd heeft. De festiviteiten van het team waren in en rond de fabrieken van Mercedes in Brackley en Brixworth.

In Japan wist Mercedes al beslag te leggen op de wereldtitel voor de constructeurs en afgelopen weekend besliste Lewis Hamilton de titelstrijd bij de coureurs in zijn voordeel. Dat deed hij door tweede te worden in de Verenigde Staten, waar concurrent en teamgenoot Valtteri Bottas de race won. Woensdag reisden beide coureurs af naar de fabrieken van Mercedes om de titels te vieren.

"Ik dacht nooit dat ik zes wereldtitels zou pakken", sprak Hamilton de medewerkers van mercedes toe. "In mijn jeugd keek ik Formule 1 en ik wilde altijd iets bereiken zoals Ayrton. Als ik de Formule 1 zou kunnen bereiken: geweldig; als ik drie titels zou kunnen pakken, dan is dat ongelooflijk. Inmiddels zit ik op het dubbele en dat is echt ongelooflijk. Ik vind het geweldig om te zien hoe gemotiveerd iedereen is en dat motiveert mij."

"Valtteri heeft het dit jaar ook extreem goed gedaan en hij is een ongelooflijke teamgenoot. Ik ben er trots op dat ik met hem mag werken en ik verwacht dat hij volgend jaar een echte kandidaat is. We moeten blijven pushen want ik weet dat we meer te doen hebben - het winnen van meer races en meer titels. Ik geloof er echt in dat we dit kunnen. Iedereen enorm bedankt!"

Bottas voegde daaraan toe: "Het is geweldig om onderdeel te zijn van het team dat de constructeurstitel won. Laat me iets herhalen wat ik vorig jaar zei toen we hier stonden: laten we dit volgend jaar nogmaals doen, want ik weet dat we het kunnen! Een grote felicitatie voor Lewis voor het winnen van de wereldtitel voor coureurs dit jaar - volgend jaar zal het niet zo eenvoudig gaan."

Die 7e titel voor Lewis zou wel gaaf zijn.
Ik denk dat Mercedes en Lewis meer hun best doen dan ooit tevoren om die ene zeer speciale titel te winnen.

  Was ook een goed seizoen ook om naar te kijken , Rosberg wist echt in zijn hoofd te kruipen toen dit in combinatie met veel pech voor Hamilton bracht hem die wereldtitel ..
  
  Dit was wat Rosberg achteraf in combinatie met Max die m ook grijze haren wist te bezorgen meteen 100 jaar ouder maakte en besloot om te stoppen

  Nummer 6 is een hint. Dit jaar was denk & hoop ik zijn laatste wereldtitel.
  Volgend jaar zijn er Max, de Ferrari's & Valtteri die een stevige bedreiging zullen vormen.

Ik denk dat Mercedes en Lewis meer hun best doen dan ooit tevoren om die ene zeer speciale titel te winnen.

  Ik hoop er ook op, van mij mogen Max of Charles daarna de Mercedes jaren flink door de war gooien, want na titel nummer 7 gaat Lewis naar Ferrari, om daar zijn 8ste en laatste te pakken (ik droom even hardop.) Wat een stunt zou dat zijn zeg!

Iemand als Hamilton die gaat niet voor een gelijkspelletje , dus gaat gegarandeerd voor 8 , en als laatste grote kampioen , rijdend met een fossiele PU , voor eeuwig de geschiedenisboeken in ...

  Ik zou Lewis een waardige opvolger vinden van Michael Schumacher als all time recordkampioen. Hoe zou MIchael er zelf tegenaan kijken, zou hij het besef hebben, krijgt hij er iets van mee, allemaal speculaties helaas waar niet snel een antwoord op komen zal.

DIe foto zegt toch eigenlijk veel en ik vind het er indrukwekkend uitzien. Unieke F1 geschiedenis of je nou fan van het team of hun rijders, manier van werken bent of niet. Gefeliciteerd team Mercedes. Je moet het maar even doen jaar in jaar uit. Zou er nog een tijd komen, waarin ook deze records eraan gaan, en door wie, gezien het lang onmogelijk geacht werd dat de titels van Schumacher -bijna- geevenaard zijn...

Als ik zo naar die foto kijk dan denk ik vooral "die auto's zijn veel te groot". En dan vooral te lang. Daar mag wat mij betreft toch wel minstens 1 á 1,5 meter vanaf.

Neemt niet weg dat het een hele knappe prestatie is van Mercedes en Hamilton en uiteraard ook Rosberg en Bottas.
