Japanse zender wijdt documentaire aan 5 jaar Honda na terugkeer in Formule 1

De Japanse zender NHK BS1 eert Honda begin 2020 met een speciale documentaire over Honda in de Formule 1. Het speciale Formule 1-programma over de motorleverancier met de titel "Why Honda F1 Wins" wordt uitgezonden op nieuwjaarsdag.

Honda keerde in 2015 terug naar de koningsklasse bij het team van McLaren. De eerste seizoenen verliepen niet zoals gehoopt, maar dit jaar liep het boven verwachting. Begin dit jaar begon Honda motoren te leveren aan Red Bull Racing. Max Verstappen pakte de eerste overwinning voor Honda na haar terugkeer. De laatste overwinning voor de motorgigant was in 2006 in Hongarije, maar daar bracht de 22-jarige dus verandering in.

Verstappen won ook de laatste race in Brazilië, waar hij gezelschap kreeg van nog een Honda-motor. Pierre Gasly stond afgelopen weekend in Brazilië na een prachtige race ook op het podium met Toro Rosso, het kleine zusje van Red Bull Racing. De laatste dubbelzege voor Honda was in 1991, wat betekent dat ze er 28 jaar op hebben moeten wachten.

De zender NHK BS1 staat in nauw contact sinds Honda de Formule 1-terugkeer vijf jaar geleden aankondigde. Ter ere van Honda's activiteiten in de koningsklasse van de autosport neemt de zender je mee achter de schermen, zoals bij de scheiding met McLaren, de evolutie van de krachtbron en de samenwerking met de vliegtuigsector.

'Eerste keer sinds 13 jaar geleden! Is Honda terug op het hoogste niveau?'

Honda, de enige Aziatische huidige F1-motorleverancier, kwam dit seizoen weer tot leven. Sinds haar terugkeer als motorleverancier in 2015 is nog niet alles behaald, maar won de motorfabrikant een Grand Prix -met Red Bull en Max Verstappen - voor het eerst sinds 13 jaar geleden. De coureur met startnummer 33 stond ook in juli als nummer 1 op het podium in Duitsland en afgelopen weekend in Brazilië.

NHK neemt je backstage mee tussen de strijd. De camera startte met draaien sinds de terugkeer van de fabrikant. Hoe is de power-unit, die bekritiseerd werd als kwetsbaar en traag qua snelheid, geëvolueerd en richting de topposities in de sport terug geklommen? Er waren veel bewogen momenten, zoals de drastische beslissing aan Toro Rosso en Red Bull motoren te gaan leveren.. Het programma blikt volop terug op de race die Honda na 13 jaar weer bovenop het podium zette en neemt je backstage mee.

  Ik hoorde laatst een prachtige podcast over de groei van een aardbei, volledig gesproken in het Russisch en zonder begeleidende beelden.
  Nu spreek ik helaas geen woord Russisch en kon dus ook niet zien waar ze het over hadden.
  Maar goed.... het was een prachtige podcast over de groei van een aardbei.

  Honda kennende gaan ze die documentaire vast wel op YT plaatsen met Engelstalige ondertiteling, zodat het wereldwijd te verstaan valt,
  mits ze daarvoor toestemming krijgen natuurlijk.

  laatst een fascinerende 3 uur durende documentaire gezien over het heelal, beeld was van het begin tot het eind volledig donker, jammer dat er geen geluid bij zat maar toch enorm van genoten..
