Yas Marina Circuit eerste circuit ter wereld met 5G-connectiviteit

Emirates Telecommunication Group Company PJSC, merknaam Etisalat, heeft vandaag haar samenwerking met Yas Marina Circuit aangekondigd om 5G-connectiviteit mogelijk te maken tijdens de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi, waarmee het de eerste 5G-aangedreven internationale racebaan is.

De elfde editie van de Abu Dhabi Grand Prix duurt in totaal vijf dagen, van 28 november tot 2 december 2019. Dit ongelooflijke racefestival met veel entertainment van wereldklasse verwelkomt naar verwachting ruim 60.000 bezoekers uit meer dan 170 landen rond de wereld.

Yas Marina Circuit wordt beschouwd als een van de technologisch meest geavanceerde Formule 1-circuits ter wereld en is de thuisbasis voor de motorsport in het Midden-Oosten. De multinationale telecomaanbieder streeft ernaar klanten een unieke 5G-ervaring te bieden op razendsnelle snelheden van meer dan 1 Gbps en een snellere responstijd. Het is twintig keer sneller dan 4G -de hoogst haalbare snelheid in Nederland voor netwerken- zo kunnen gebruikers met 5G-technologie live video in 4K-resolutie streamen, vrijwel zonder vertraging.

Etisalat, de provider die vergelijkbaar is met KPN of Vodafone, begon zijn 5G-reis in 2014 toen het zijn netwerk begon op te bouwen met een toegewijd team van ingenieurs en specialisten die zijn toegewijd aan het bouwen van geavanceerde infrastructuur ter ondersteuning van toekomstige technologische vereisten in de regio.

even wat anders: ik vraag mij wel eens af hoeveel seconden verschil er zit tussen de beelden die wij bijvoorbeeld live per Ziggo binnenkrijgen in onze huiskamer en wat er zich werkelijk op dat moment afspeelt op het circuit. De vertraging dus. Heb altijd in mn hoofd zitten 2 tot 5 seconden delay...iemand enig idee?

  Laat ze eens een keer met al die miljoenen dat circuit van hen een flinke upgrade geven... T idee van het meest perfecte circuit ooit maken qua rechte lijntjes en perfecte 90 graden bochten was leuk, maar de races zijn vaak niet te houden geweest. Alleen 2010 en 2016 was leuk, maar dat had niks met het circuit te maken maar het menselijke aspect van de coureurs "die wel iets raars moesten doen" voor hun titelkansen.

In 'The land of soft language' (de U.S.) blijft die vertraging van 10 seconden er toch op zitten. Die hebben die tijd gewoon nodig om alle versprekingen (lees: vuile praat) er tussenuit te filteren. Daar sta je dan met je 5G ?
