Formule 1 en RM Sotheby's organiseren zaterdag veiling op startgrid in Abu Dhabi

De Formule 1 en veilinghuis RM Sotheby's zullen zaterdag in Abu Dhabi gezamenlijk een veiling organiseren. Daarbij staan drie Formule 1-auto's te koop: twee bolides van Michael Schumacher en een oude Ferrari van Patrick Tambay.

De veiling zal zaterdag vanaf 9.00 uur plaatselijke tijd plaatsvinden op de startgrid waar later die dag de Formule 1-coureurs weer zullen rijden voor hun kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi. Tijdens de veiling zullen er 42 auto's onder de hamer gaan, waarbij de duurste auto tussen de 5.500.000 en 7.500.000 dollar moet kosten: de Ferrari F2002 waarmee Michael Schumacher in 2002 drie van zijn 11 races wist te winnen.

Er staan nog twee F1-bolides op de lijst om geveild te worden: de Ferrari 126 C2 uit 1982, waarmee Patrick Tambay de Duitse Grand Prix wist te winnen, en de Benetton B192 uit 1992, waarmee Schumacher zijn eerste volledige Formule 1-seizoen reed. De Ferrari moet tussen de 2 en 2,5 miljoen dollar opleveren, de Benetton tussen de 825.000 en 1.100.000 dollar.

Ook 37 klassiekers en supercars geveild

Naast de drie Formule 1-bolides worden er in Abu Dhabi nog 37 auto's geveild. Zo gaat er een Ferrari FXX K uit 2015 onder de hamer die tussen de 4 en 4,5 miljoen dollar moet opbrengen, evenals een Pagani Zonda Aether uit 2017, waarvan er slechts één gemaakt is en die tussen de 4,5 en 5,5 miljoen dollar moet gaan opleveren. Een door Sebastian Vettel gesigneerde Ferrari F40 uit 1990 moet voor 1,5 tot 1,75 miljoen verkocht gaan worden.

"We kijken ernaar uit samen te werken met RM Sotheby's aan de eerste autoveiling op de grid in Abu Dhabi, waarbij we gelijkgestemden samenbrengen voor de eerste veiling van dit kaliber in het Midden-Oosten", zegt commercieel directeur Sean Bratches van de Formule 1. "We zoeken altijd naar manieren om de ervaring van de fans te verbeteren en hoewel niet iedereen een stukje autosporthistorie mee zal nemen, vinden we het geweldig dat de fans deze ongelooflijke collectie kunnen bekijken dit weekend."

  Hij zit nog net op de witte lijn met zijn voorwiel. Als je iets terug spoelt is het waarschijnlijk zijn achterwiel dat op de witte lijn zit. Schumacher zit in dit geval nog net goed. Maar inderdaad, toen keek men er minder snel na.

  Idem. Uiteraard van Michael. Geen seconde over na hoeven denken of ik de Barrichello uitvoering wilde:) Verder nog een McLaren, Jaguar _ook een prachtige auto_ een Williams van Montoya nog en dat waren alleen nog de 2002 modellen. Echt een leuke hobby.

Ik zou m'n huis kunnen verkopen, inclusief vrouw en kinderen. Dan m'n pensioen naar voren halen en door blijven werken tot 2327 voor een veel te laag openingsbod op de F2002. Een of andere sjeik zal dan één van zijn zwarte wenkbrauwen iets optrekken ten teken dat hij de auto wil en me overbieden met een een miljoen of vijf.
