Wolff schat kans op 75 procent dat Hamilton na 2020 bij Mercedes blijft

Toto Wolff heeft er vertrouwen in dat Lewis Hamilton ook na 2020 bij Mercedes zal racen. De teambaas van het Duitse fabrieksteam schat de kans daarop op zo'n 75 procent in.

Begin 2013 maakte Hamilton de overstap van McLaren naar Mercedes, een keuze die voor de Brit bijzonder goed heeft uitgepakt. Bij Mercedes pakte hij sinds 2014 vijf wereldtitels. Er ontstonden in de afgelopen periode echter geluiden dat Hamilton per 2021 de overstap naar Ferrari zou kunnen maken. Mattia Binotto vertelde dat hij 'blij' was om te weten dat Hamilton in 2021 mogelijk beschikbaar is.

Wolff vertrouwt er echter op dat Hamilton bij Mercedes blijft. "Persoonlijk zou ik de kans in schatten op zo'n 75 procent. Ik geef je dat getal omdat ik er rationeel over denk. Alles wijst op een verlenging van de samenwerking, van beide kanten. Tegelijkertijd is er echter een kans van 25 procent dat we er geen controle over hebben. In de komende maanden zullen we dus niet hoe het gaat lopen."

"Zolang wij in staat zijn om een snelle auto te produceren met een krachtige motor, dan zullen we altijd de kans hebben om te beslissen wie er rijdt. Ik denk dat het zonder twijfel dan Lewis' prioriteit is om het te laten werken met het team. Ik zal proberen het te laten werken met Lewis, maar het belangrijkste is dat we een goede auto hebben. Dan kunnen we zelf keuzes maken."

    Het is zeer onwaarschijnlijk dat Hamilton ooit de overstap maken naar Ferrari. Als Hamilton gaat zal hij ook bepaalde sleutelfiguren van Mercedes meenemen. Met de huidige organisatie bij Ferrari gaat Hamilton ook geen kampioen worden.
    De aandacht van Ferrari zal Hamilton hooguit gebruiken om zijn onderhandelingspositie te verstevigen richting Mercedes.

      De kans dat Mercedes nog enkel motoren gaat verdelen is rëeel.
      Het team wordt verkocht, en dan kan het zomaar eens uit elkaar vallen daar..

      Ferrari gaat het enigste team zijn, die een salaris als dat van Hamilton gaat kunnen betalen..

      Zo zeer onwaarschijnlijk is het volgens wij niet..

      Ik vind dat nog steeds een kleine kans... Helmut Marko had het ook nagerekend met Riccardo en kwam op een 99% kans uit dat hij zou blijven... ;)

      Allebei fout, de kans dat Lewis naar Ferrari gaat is 50%.
      De kans dat hij bij Mercedes blijft is ook 50%.

    Zolang Mercedes niet stopt in de F1 zie ik Lewis niet naar Ferrari gaan, bij Mercedes is alles op en top geregeld, en bij Ferrari is het meer vriendjes politiek wat de boventoon voert, hij zou wel gek zijn om weg te gaan.
