Vorige week werd bekend dat de organisatie van de Grand Prix van Vietnam het stratencircuit in Hanoi aangepast heeft. Nu is duidelijk welke veranderingen er precies zijn doorgevoerd.

Oorspronkelijk zou het Grand Prix-circuit in Vietnam 22 bochten tellen met een circuitlengte van 5.565 meter. Vorige week werd echter al aangekondigd dat de layout 'in samenspraak met de Formule 1 en de FIA' is aangepast omwille van 'geografische beoordelingen' tijdens de aanleg van het circuit.

Het gevolg is dat een extra bocht krijgt bij het inrijden van de bochtige laatste sector. Tevens is de vorm van bocht 22, die voorheen door het leven ging als bocht 21, enigszins aangepast. Niet langer is dat een lange, vloeiende bocht naar het voorbeeld van bocht 13 op Sepang, maar in de nieuwe plannen wordt de bocht een stuk scherper.

Door de veranderingen telt het circuit in Hanoi nu 23 bochten, waardoor het samen met het Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore het hoogste aantal bochten op de kalender van de Formule 1 telt. Ook is het circuit door de aanpassingen aan bocht 22 in lengte gegroeid: het asfaltlint meet nu 5.607 meter. De verwachting is dat de bouwwerkzaamheden aan het circuit begin januari afgerond worden, terwijl het pitgebouw voor eind 2019 gereed moet zijn.

Aangepast omwille van 'geografische beoordelingen' ..?
Nu rijden ze ook langs "Kims kip kruiden" zodat ze kunnen stoppen voor een culinaire verwennerij.
Dat is slim en prachtig geografisch beoordeelt van Kim want nu krijgt hij niet alleen een nieuwe stoep (waar hij 362 dagen per jaar zijn terras kan plaatsen) maar ook nog eens de mogelijkheid om één weekend per jaar zijn prijzen eens flink omhoog te gooien.

  Gaat het wel helemaal goed? Over welke Kim heb je het? Kim Jong? Die zit wel een paar duizend kilometer verderop, dus die moet wel een erg groot terras hebben dan.

  @Snork: Hier, bij mij in het dorp op de parkeerplaats van de lokale bouwmarkt.
  Ben alweer een tijdje niet geweest dus zal morgen weer eens gaan kijken voor een exemplaar met zoet/zuur.
  Overigens is hij volgens mij familie van ene Kim van Kim's Kip Kruiden, bekend van zijn nieuwe geasfalteerde stoepje.

Ik moet zeggen dat het een baan lijkt die wel voor mooie races kan zorgen.
De layout laat zien dat er een paar mooie plaatsen zijn voor inhaalacties

  Lastige baan om de auto op af te stellen door de combinatie van lange snelle rechte stukken en de bochtige sectie. Op basis van 2019 een Ferrari-baan, maar volgend jaar kan alles weer anders zijn.

  @snork, het lijkt me juist meer een RB/Mgp baan. en volgend jaar verandert er niets, dus op basis daarvan schat ik Ferrari juist als 3de in.
