Scuderia AlphaTauri presenteert nieuwe bolide op 14 februari

Formule 1-fans kunnen op Valentijnsdag een cadeautje verwachten van Scuderia Toro Rosso. Het Italiaanse team zal op 14 februari het doek van de eerste auto trekken die onder de naam AlphaTauri gaat racen.

Eerder in 2019 werd bekend dat de naam Scuderia Toro Rosso na afloop van het seizoen zou verdwijnen uit de Formule 1. Het team houdt niet op te bestaan en blijft ook onderdeel van de Red Bull-familie, maar het moederbedrijf besloot dat de tijd rijp was om een andere tak in de spotlights te zetten. Dat werd dus AlphaTauri, het kledingmerk dat Red Bull in 2016 op de markt bracht.

Nadat Ferrari vorige week al bekendmaakte dat zij hun nieuwe strijdwapen op 11 februari 2020 onthullen, heeft AlphaTauri als tweede team de knoop doorgehakt. De eerste bolide van het hernoemde team wordt op 14 februari gepresenteerd. Dat zal gebeuren in Hangar 7, de uitvalsbasis van Red Bull in het Oostenrijkse Salzburg. Salzburg is ook de plaats waar AlphaTauri als kledingmerk gevestigd is.

De verwachting is dat de presentatie van de bolide van AlphaTauri niet alleen draait om de auto zelf. Tegelijkertijd zal het team ook de nieuwe kleurstelling voor 2020 introduceren. Op het personele vlak verandert er echter weinig bij het team: Pierre Gasly en Daniil Kvyat sloten het seizoen 2019 af als de coureurs van het team en dat zullen ze ook in 2020 weer zijn. Franz Tost blijft intussen de teambaas.

  Ik vind anders Februari net zo zwaar vaak om doorheen te komen... We worden een beetje geteased met launches waardoor je er nog meer zin in krijgt... testdagen die het gespeculeer alleen maar erger maken.... maar de echte waarheid voor 2020 zie je pas echt op Zaterdag in Melbourne.

  Ik vond seizoenen met 16 tot 18 GP's lang zat met een laatste GP in oktober. Voor mijn gevoel was de laatste GP nog maar kort geleden, dus die break is prima. Voor mij iig goed uit te houden tot de presentaties van de nieuwe bolides. De winters zijn immers nog nooit zo kort geweest...
