Het jaar 2019 zit er nu echt bijna op. Welke nieuwsberichten hebben de meeste indruk gemaakt in het afgelopen kalenderjaar? Dat zie je in het onderstaande overzicht van de meest gelezen artikelen GPToday.net van 2019.

5. Raikkonen verkiest Verstappen en Schumacher boven Hamilton en Senna

In een interview vraagt het Zwitserse Blick aan Raikkonen om een keuze te maken bij een aantal dilemma's. Gevraagd of hij de voorkeur geeft aan Michael Schumacher of Ayrton Senna kiest de wereldkampioen van 2007 voor Schumacher, en bij de keuze tussen Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton gaat hij voor de jonge Nederlander van Red Bull Racing.

4. Onboard bij Max Verstappen tijdens herstart in Brazilië

Verstappen pakte in Brazilië de achtste zege uit zijn carrière en de derde van 2019. Om dat voor elkaar te krijgen, moest de Red Bull-coureur wel twee safety car-fases zien te overleven. Bij de eerste herstart nam Verstappen plaats op de tweede positie, maar meteen wist hij leider Hamilton van de koppositie te verdrijven.

3. Verstappen kan lach niet inhouden als Hamilton over vrouwen begint

Tijdens de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi was er een leuk moment tussen Hamilton en Verstappen tijdens de persconferentie na afloop van de kwalificatie. De wereldkampioen knoopt een gesprek aan met de Nederlander over de vrouwen in Abu Dhabi, maar realiseert zich pas later dat Verstappen al een vriendin heeft. De 22-jarige coureur vat het sportief op en kan zijn lach niet inhouden.

2. Het dodelijke ongeluk van Anthoine Hubert in België

Een van de donkerste bladzijden van het autosportseizoen 2019 was het noodlottige overlijden van Anthoine Hubert. Tijdens de hoofdrace van de Formule 2 op Spa-Francorchamps crashte de Fransman, die vervolgens overdwars op de uitloopstrook kwam te staan en vol in de flank werd geraakt door Juan Manuel Correa. Dat kon Correa wel navertellen, zij het met zware verwondingen, maar het lot was Hubert niet zo goed gezind.

1. Nederlandse fans dollen met de Duitse televisie

Max Verstappen wist in Oostenrijk wederom de harten te veroveren van de Nederlandse fans met een prachtige overwinning. Op zaterdag zat de feeststemming er ook al goed in, nadat de coureur van Red Bull Racing zich op de tweede positie wist te kwalificeren. Toen Kai Ebel, de reporter van de Duitse RTL, even kwam buurten bij de Verstappen-tribune, werd hij getrakteerd op een 'liefdevolle' begroeting van de Nederlandse fans.

  Ik lees de inhoud ook nooit.
  Als er "Zandvoort" in de titel staat reageer ik automatisch met een verhaal dat Assen een veel betere keuze zou zijn geweest.
  Daarna roepen we wat over en weer om vervolgens te eindigen met een opmerking over Leclerc en een korte "appels en peren vergelijking" tussen Verstappen en Hamilton.
  Werkt iedere keer, dus daar ga ik ook in 2020 mee door.
