Williams haalt met Royal Bank of Canada wederom sponsor binnen via Latifi

De komst van Nicholas Latifi naar Williams legt het team geen windeieren. Na het vertrek van een aantal sponsoren heeft de Britse renstal met Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) wederom een nieuwe sponsor aangetrokken.

De komst van RBC is direct te verbinden aan Latifi, die in 2020 zijn Formule 1-debuut gaat maken bij Williams. De Royal Bank of Canada is de grootste bank van Canada met meer dan 16 miljoen klanten en zo'n 80.000 werknemers wereldwijd. De bank is al sinds 2014 verbonden aan Latifi en zal de Canadees dus ook blijven steunen tijdens zijn avontuur in de Formule 1.

"We zijn erg blij dat RBC zich voor het seizoen 2020 aan het team heeft verbonden", zegt plaatsvervangend teambaas Claire Williams. "De Formule 1 is een sport op een wereldwijd platform en we zijn trots dat we samen gaan werken met een financiële institutie die passie heeft voor het helpen van jonge atleten met het bereiken van succes in alle vormen van sport."

De logo's van RBC zullen in 2020 onder andere te zien zijn op de bolides van Latifi en teamgenoot George Russell. Het logo krijgt een plek op de neus van de FW43. Daarnaast zal de bank ook zichtbaar zijn in de garage van Williams, op de hospitalities, op de teamkleding en op de overalls van de coureurs.

Royal Bank of Canada is niet de eerste sponsor die Latifi binnen weet te brengen bij Williams. Eerder deze week kondigde de Britse renstal, dat afgelopen jaar teleurstelde en laatste werd in het kampioenschap, de komst van Sofina en Lavazza al aan.

op zekere hoogte wel... maar ze wedden op 1 paard. Is Latifi er naar een jaar klaar mee zijn de donkere wolken boven Williams gewoon zwart met ineens diepe mist.

Toen McLaren vorig jaar Sainz binnenhaalde en Estrella Galicia 0,0 werd gelancheerd als nieuwe sponsor hoorde ik niemand over het feit dat deze sponsor mee kwam met Sainz vanuit Renault en bij Renault destijds vanuit STR.

Ontopic: Williams doet het ondanks de situatie waar ze inzitten op sponsorgebied gewoon goede zaken. Orken en Rexona opvangen met nieuwe sponsors en tevens daar een groei in bewerkstelligen is gewoon erg knap.

  Er is een verschil tussen een betaalde coureur die een sponsor meeneemt en een BETALENDE coureur die sponsors mee MOET nemen om te kunnen rijden.

  waarschijnelijk wel een goed betaalde sponsor, maar veel sponsor namen op bolide brengen niet altijd topdollars op, iedere beetjes helpen. RBS kan de financien van Williams flink onder de loep nemen.

  Is nogal een verschil of je als team een sponsor hebt of via een coureur.
  
  Deze constructie is hetzelfde als hoe vroeger teams als Minardi aan hun hoofdsponsors kwamen.

Elk jaar flikken ze het toch weer om nieuwe sponsors te strikken. Via de coureur of via andere wegen. Who cares.
Nog één jaartje afzien, de 2020 Williams zal zeer waarschijnlijk weer stijf achteraan staan, maar wellicht dat de nieuwe reglementen het team de aansluiting weer een beetje biedt. Kunnen we Russell eindelijk een keer zien knokken om posities.

  Dus het is verworden van het team waarvoor bedrijven in de rij stonden tot het team dat het toch weer elk jaar flikt om een sponsor te vinden.

  Er was een tijd dat Williams de positie had die Mercedes nu heeft, nu is het een soort Minardi.
  
  Met de nieuwe regels zal het voor Williams misschien alleen erger worden, er is weinig geld dus ook weinig geld voor R&D voor die nieuwe reglementen
