Nieuwe seizoen Drive to Survive vanaf 28 februari te zien op Netflix

Er is een releasedatum gesignaleerd voor het tweede seizoen van Drive to Survive, de Netflix-serie over de Formule 1. Het Franse Twitter-account van de streamingdienst geeft 28 februari aan als de datum voor de publicatie van de afleveringen.

Sinds 2018 worden de Formule 1-teams tijdens de Grand Prix-weekenden niet alleen gevolgd door de camera's die het spektakel voor de televisie (en sinds 2019 ook voor F1 TV) vastleggen. Ook de camera's van de productiemaatschappij van Netflix lopen sindsdien in de paddock rond om Drive to Survive te kunnen produceren.

Het eerste seizoen van de serie was een groot succes en wordt aangehaald als katalysator voor de toenemende populariteit van de Formule 1 en het aantrekken van nieuwe fans. De Formule 1 onthulde in 2019 al dat er een deal gesloten was voor het tweede seizoen van Drive to Survive, maar het was nog onduidelijk wanneer de nieuwe afleveringen te zien zijn op Netflix.

Hoewel het officiële Engelse account van de streamingdienst nog geen releasedatum bekend heeft gemaakt, geldt dat wel voor de Franse afdeling van Netflix. Een teaser voor de maand februari verklapt dat de afleveringen van de serie vanaf 28 februari te zien zullen zijn. Na afloop van de wintertests kunnen fans de tijd voor de eerste Grand Prix van het jaar doden met het nieuwe seizoen van Drive to Survive.

Wat de precieze inhoud van de nieuwe afleveringen is, is nog onduidelijk. Het seizoen 2019 staat in ieder geval centraal en voor het eerst namen ook Ferrari en Mercedes deel aan de opnames. In 2018 weigerden beide teams dat nog. De kans is aanwezig dat de rampzalig verlopen Duitse Grand Prix van Mercedes voorbij komt in de serie.

Hopelijk hebben ze de beelden bij Mercedes in Duitsland er in gelaten, maar ik geloof nooit dat Mercedes heeft toegelaten dat alles gebruikt mag worden.

Leuk, vond seizoen 1 al zeker de moeite waard om te kijken. Af en toe zag je beelden voorbij komen, met uitspraken die niet op de F1 sites terug te lezen waren.

DTS 1 was de grote Ricciardo special ..en werd Max veelal negatief bestempeld.
DTS 2 mag van mij wat meer op inside info focussen...maar het zal wel een docu worden voor jan en alleman

  Ik vond er ook geen zak aan. Leuk voor mensen die het niet volgen maar echt alles wisten ´wij´ eigenlijk al. En idd 1 grote ricciardo show. Met zijn leuke lach.... Trekt de ´muricanan´ natuurlijk meer aan dan een droogkloot als Verstappen.

  Ik meende dat het oorspronkelijke idee was om iet wat vaker bij Vettel in beeld te zijn vs Lewis... echter liep het seizoen niet zo goed voor dit verhaal dus heeft Netflix moeten improviseren en zouden vaker op de vloer zijn geweest bij de middenmoot.

  Ik moet je mijn excuses aanbieden. Volgens mij had je het over het afgelopen F1 seizoen, oftewel deel 2 van DTS.
