Mercedes: "Onze aflevering van Drive To Survive 2019-seizoen wil je niet missen"

In 2018 besloten de Formule 1 en Netflix te gaan samenwerken aan een documentaire over de koningsklasse van de autosport. Tijdens de raceweekenden van het 2018-seizoen werden de teams daarom nauwlettend gevolgd door cameraploegen van de streamingdienst. Het resultaat, genaamd Drive to Survive, werd met de publicatie van het eerste seizoen begin 2019 meteen een hit en dat terwijl Ferrari en Mercedes nog besloten om niet mee te werken aan het eerste seizoen. Elke aflevering had een specifieke verhaallijn met telkens een andere coureur of ander team in de hoofdrol, maar vooral de aflevering waarin de giftige relatie tussen Red Bull en Renault onder de loep werd gelegd was een publiekstrekker. Bovendien had de Formule 1 er gelijk een cultheld bij, in de vorm van de vloekende en tierende Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner.

Netflix maakte, zoals gebruikelijk, nog niets bekend over de afleveringen van de serie over het 2020-seizoen, maar het was wel al duidelijk geworden dat Mercedes tijdens de Duitse Grand Prix werd gefilmd. De Duitse renstal kende in Duitsland een dramatische race en beleefde misschien wel haar slechtste weekend sinds Spanje 2016. Mercedes reageerde dan ook op de bekendmaking dat het tweede seizoen van Drive to Survive 28 februari op Netflix verschijnt: "Geloof ons, jullie willen onze aflevering niet missen!"

De Grand Prix van Duitsland werd gekenmerkt door een enorme hoeveelheid crashes, pitstops en safety cars. Red Bull-coureur Max Verstappen wist te profiteren en reed op sterke wijze naar zijn tweede overwinning van het seizoen. Vettel werd tweede en Daniil Kvyat was de verrassende derde.

Erhmmm.... Ik wil álle afleveringen niet missen!

Deze Netflix serie heeft trouwens meer impact dan ik had durven hopen;
Zelfs mijn kinderen kijken er naar uit en volgens hen lopen hun leeftijdsgenoten er ook dit seizoen voor uit.
Het leeft kennelijk.

  Offtopic; De verbouwingen op Zandvoort gaan nu snel.
  Het asfalteren is al begonnen!
  Nu nog met name de "run-off area's" en de stroken langs de vangrail om terug te kunnen keren naar het asfalt zonder door de grindbakken te hoeven rijden.
  Verder worden de curbstones in de nieuwe bochten momenteel al geplaatst, daarna kunnen deze baangedeeltes ook worden geasfalteerd.

Het viel me vorig seizoen heel erg op dat de makers bepaalde favorietjes had. Als grootste voorbeeld Ricciardo, waar Max als de dwarse tegenpool neergezet werd.

Ik hou niet van dat soort taferelen.

De aflevering met Steiner was trouwens wel heel goed.

  Niks subjectief aan. hij werd neergezet als een mannetje die alleen maar in de weg reedt. ik was het na 3 afleveringen al helemaal zat. Echt een typisch muricaans sausje hangt erover. Of je bent goed of je bent slecht. Blegh.

Ik hou altijd wel van een beetje zelfspot, het leven is soms al zo serieus.
Moet er wel bij zeggen dat met jezelf de spot drijven een stuk beter gaat met 2 titels op zak;)
