Carey ziet progressie in onderhandelingen: "Zitten in de afrondende fase"

De Formule 1 is goede stappen aan het zetten richting het afsluiten van nieuwe overkoepelende afspraken met de teams. De onderhandelingen daarover zijn volgens Formule 1-CEO Chase Carey op dit moment in de 'afrondende fase'.

Met ingang van 2021 gaat de Formule 1 een nieuwe fase in. In oktober presenteerden Liberty Media en de FIA de nieuwe technische, sportieve en financiële reglementen die dat jaar ingaan. Het volgende punt op de to-do-lijst van de Liberty en de F1 zijn de overkoepelende afspraken. De huidige overeenkomsten, beter bekend als het 'Concorde Agreement', lopen eind 2020 af.

Carey gaf tijdens het World Economic Forum in het Zwitserse Davos tegenover Bloomberg tekst en uitleg over de stand van zaken rond de overkoepelende overeenkomsten. "We zitten in de laatste fase van de gesprekken. We hebben oplossingen voor bepaalde elementen van de toekomst. We hebben de regels, reglementen, het budgetplafond, deze dingen zijn opgelost."

In het 'Concorde Agreement' staan onder andere afspraken over de verdeling van het prijzengeld. Momenteel is de verdeling door het uitkeren van bonussen scheef, maar dat moet gelijker worden bij de nieuwe overeenkomsten. Ook moet ieder team de kans hebben om succesvol te zijn. "De underdog moet een kans hebben om te winnen. Uiteindelijk waren er vorig jaar slechts drie teams die meededen om de overwinningen", stelt Carey.

Hmmm blijf het altijd grappig vinden dat men zegt the underdog moet ook kunnen winnen. Tja als je verschillen hebt in kwaliteiten vwb rijders vraag ik het mij echt af. Alsof een Sainz met een McLarenRenault of Mercedes echt gaat winnen. Een Hamilton of Verstappen in die auto is een ander verhaal.
Moet soms omdat soort berichten lachen. Ja een team kan een vondst gedaan hebben...... dan is er een kleine kans. Maar anders no way. En BrawnGP was echt een dijk van een Chassis met een mooie vondst.

  Ik denk Sainz wel de kwaliteiten heeft om de wedstrijd te winnen. Het echte 'probleem' is dat er nauwelijks auto's kapot gaan, waardoor een verrassing niet meer mogelijk is.

  Nah deels waar en niet waar...Sainz heeft met de McLaren Renault van vorig jaar niet gewonnen...maar dat hadden Verstappen of Hamilton ook niet voor elkaar gekregen...echter als de progressie van 2018 --> 2019 doorzet naar 2020 in dezelfde lijn dan acht ik een Sainz zeker ook wel in staat om te winnen....Sainz is misschien van het het niveau Hamilton of Verstappen maar het zeker geen pannenkoek....die heeft echt wel de potentie van een Rosberg of misschien ook wel Vettel in de RBR...

  Denk dat je Rosberg zwaar onderschat oosterbaan, over Sainz hij had ook niet echt een bronvolle teamgenoot vorig seizoen, mss was die Mclaren wel veel beter dan we dachten ..

  ik heb Rosberg denk ik hoger zitten dan de gemiddelde persoon, maar we kunnen denk ik niet stellen dat hij het niveau Schumi, Senna of Hamilton heeft.
