Alfa Romeo presenteert nieuwe bolide op ochtend eerste testdag

Het falen voor de crashtests heeft voor Alfa Romeo geen gevolgen voor deelname aan de wintertests. Op de ochtend van de eerste testdag in Barcelona presenteert het team haar bolide voor 2020.

Alfa Romeo heeft een bewogen winter achter de rug. Het nieuwe chassis kwam halverwege december bij de eerste poging niet door de crashtests heen. Een maand later lukte dat in een tweede poging wel. Het is onduidelijk hoeveel vertraging het team hierdoor heeft opgelopen, maar vast staat wel dat het Italiaans-Zwitserse team wel bij de eerste testdagen in Spanje aanwezig zal zijn.

Op de ochtend van de eerste testdag, woensdag 19 februari, trekt Alfa Romeo het doek van haar nieuwe bolide. Die zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk de naam C39 dragen. De presentatie van de bolide vindt om 8.15 uur plaats en wordt gehouden in de pitstraat van het Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Tegelijkertijd met de aankondiging van de presentatie heeft Alfa Romeo haar nieuwe officiële naam in gebruik genomen op social media: Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN.

Komend seizoen hoopt Alfa Romeo weer een stap naar voren te zetten op de grid. Kimi Raikkonen en Antonio Giovinazzi zijn wederom de coureurs die dat moeten bewerkstelligen. Het team trok met Robert Kubica een nieuwe test- en reservecoureur aan en voor de sponsorportefeuille van het team had dat ook een gunstig gevolg: PKN Orlen, trouwe sponsor van de Pool, is als co-titelsponsor aan boord gekomen.
