'Inwoners Miami Gardens willen voor Super Bowl protesteren tegen komst F1'

Hard Rock Stadium is komende zondag het decor voor de Super Bowl. Een groep inwoners van Miami Gardens, waar het stadion ligt, heeft aangekondigd voor die wedstrijd buiten het stadion te protesteren tegen de komst van de Formule 1.

De Super Bowl is de finale van de American Football-competitie NFL en al jarenlang is de uitzending daarvan een van de best bekeken tv-programma's van het jaar in de Verenigde Staten. Miami Gardens en Hard Rock Stadium krijgen de eer om de finale, die dit jaar tussen de Kansas City Chiefs en de San Francisco 49ers gaat, te organiseren. In de komende jaren wil het stadion echter ook de Formule 1 binnenhalen.

Daarvoor sloot Hard Rock Stadium al een contract met de sport, waardoor de race vanaf 2021 op het terrein van het stadion georganiseerd kan worden. Het enige probleem is tegenstand vanuit Miami Gardens zelf. Liberty Media en Hard Rock Stadium kwamen al tegemoet aan zorgen van omwonenden door de layout van het circuit en het tijdschema van het Grand Prix-weekend aan te passen, maar blijkbaar is dat niet voldoende.

Omwonenden vrezen impact op leefsituatie door komst F1

Een groep bewoners van Miami Gardens heeft aangekondigd dat zij gaan protesteren tegen de komst van de Formule 1. Dat willen zij zondag, voor aanvang van de Super Bowl, doen op het terrein van het stadion. De omwonenden zijn, ondanks de voorgestelde aanpassingen, bang dat de komst van de koningsklasse van de autosport te ingrijpende gevolgen gaat hebben voor de bereikbaarheid van de huizen in de omgeving.

Ook binnen de gemeenteraad van Miami Gardens zijn zorgen over de komst van de Formule 1. Op initiatief van Barbara Jordan werd een stemronde over het wijzigen van de bestemmingsplannen van Hard Rock Stadium nog uitgesteld naar 4 februari. Zij vindt dat Stephen Ross, de eigenaar van Hard Rock Stadium, te grote plannen heeft voor het stadion. "We hebben de Dolphins. We hebben de Universiteit van Miami. We hebben een trainingsfaciliteit. Er komt een moment dat we 'nee' moeten zeggen", zei Jordan tegen Miami Herald.

  Men vermoed dat er wat meer speelt dan de wens van Liberty alleen. Naar het schijnt heeft de Dolphins eigenaar (Stephen Ross) een bod op de Formule 1 laten varen in overleg met Liberty. Dit zodat Liberty de enige gegadigde werd. In ruil daarvoor zou er in Miami Dade een race moeten gaan plaatsvinden. Bij voorkeur rondom Miami Beach.

  Wie bedoel je met ze? In Zandvoort wilden 'ze' ook geen F1 maar er is wel vraag naar 1.000.000 kaarten. Dus met 'ze' bedoel je een klein select groepje neem ik aan?

  vanuit miami is er al een precedent dat ze die race niet willen houden vooral niet op de circuit wat eerst was gepland. in dit geval kan je als volk je eigen ook sterk maken :)

Dus, puffende stille V6 hybride motoren met afsluitingen van wegen een week vantevoren zorgen voor meer overlast dan elke week/een keer in de twee weken al die ronkende V8 motoren op de parkeerplaats, waarbij er 65k man in en uit het stadion gaan..? Overigens, welke overlast? Want geen enkele woonwijk sluit direct aan op de omgeving van het stadion. Iets met storm, water en een glas..
