Louis Camilleri: "Extra geld beschikbaar gesteld voor het F1-project"

De grote baas van Ferrari, Louis Camilleri, zegt dat het Italiaanse merk bereid is om meer uit te geven aan de Formule 1 voor de seizoenen 2020 en 2021. Het Amerikaanse Liberty Media probeert eigenlijk de bestedingen van de topteams te verlagen door een budgetlimiet op te leggen vanaf 2021. De budgetlimiet wordt ingevoerd om de kleinere teams tegemoet te komen en zou ervoor moeten zorgen dat de grote jongens een tandje terug moeten schakelen.

Ferrari zal na een aantal mindere jaren weer het juiste spoor moeten gaan vinden. Camilleri zei deze week dat een verhoogd budget voor 2020 op de begroting staat. "Dit jaar zal behoorlijk kritisch zijn, maar we moeten wel", wordt hij geciteerd door La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Zoals altijd is het onze ambitie om te proberen te winnen en daarom zullen we blijven investeren in onze infrastructuur, middelen en technologieën, terwijl we de auto van 2020 blijven ontwikkelen en het seizoen vordert."

In 2020 zullen Charles Leclerc en Sebastian Vettel van start gaan. Ferrari en Leclerc bevestigden een aantal weken geleden dat de Monegask voor langer aan het team verbonden blijft, maar Vettel heeft zijn contract nog niet verlengd.

Extra investeringen nodig

Dat de teams dit jaar veel geld zullen besteden, omdat de budgetlimiet pas in 2021 in werking treedt, was geen geheim. De teams, waaronder Ferrari, wil nog het maximale profiteren voordat er een limiet komt op hun uitgaves. Camilleri zei hierover: "De nieuwe reglementen die in 2021 van kracht gaan, omvatten de ontwikkeling van een hele andere auto, waarvoor dit jaar extra middelen en kosten nodig zijn. Er zal een aanzienlijke investeringsgroei zijn."

Aan de ene kant begrijp ik ze wel, maar ik heb toch wat moeite dat er 1 team is met meer macht dan de concurrenten “vetorecht” en tientallen miljoenen extra inkomsten omdat ze alleen al meedoen.

De F1 draait teveel om Ferrari en het zou de sport goed doen als Ferrari hun vetorecht en extra inkomsten af te pakken. Eigenlijk is het schandalig dat 1 team voorgetrokken wordt op de andere.

  Het is inderdaad een schande dat Ferrari nog steeds het vetorecht heeft. En laat niemand nou zeggen dat het maar een x aantal keren gebruik is, want alleen dreigen al werkt kennelijk voldoende.

  Ferrari krijgt wat ze verdienen. Ga nou niet zeggen dat de F1 net zo boeiend is zonder Ferrari. Alle huidige teams kun je op McLaren, Willams en Ferrari na inwisselen voor de ander. Persoonlijk vind ik Mercedes nog wel leuk, maar is natuurlijk ook een veredelde taxi-leverancier. Daarnaast 0 historie en dat geleuter over de Silberpfeile van vroeger is ook wel een keer klaar.
  
  Daarnaast gebruikt Ferrari het veto-recht, of dreigen ze ermee, alleen in het belang van de constructeurs. Nooit in eigen belang. Nooit gedaan. Daarom vinden alle teams het prima dat ze die behouden. Ze hebben er namelijk zelf ook wat aan. Maar goed, jullie weten het uiteraard allemaal veel beter met jullie bureau-democratisch-deug-geneuzel vanaf de bank. Ook prima, even goede vrienden.

Van de ene kant vind ik een veto recht helemaal niet zo slecht omdat het toch een stok achter de deur is maar het moet niet zo zijn dat ze het kunnen gebruiken voor eigen gewin maar in het belang van alle teams . Ook de banden die ze hebben met de familie Todt zou nader onderzoek gerechtvaardigen want het is al gebleken dat ze bij diverse verdachte zaken eerst een tijdje hun hoofd in het zand staken en het er pas uit te halen als er 1 een oplossing voor was of 2 de druk zo groot werdt dat ze wel moesten .
