Tevreden Russell: "Hebben het gat gedicht"

Williams Grand Prix kan terugkijken op een uitstekende testweek in Barcelona. Waar het team in 2019 nog het Zwarte Schaap was tijdens de testdagen, blonk het team dit jaar uit met solide runs en een uitstekende auto.

Russell blijft met beide benen op de grond staan. "De auto is goed te besturen, hij is constant maar nog steeds de langzaamste op de grid. Desondanks denk ik dat we het gat hebben gedicht."

"Niet alle veranderingen die we hebben aangebracht aan de auto deze week hebben geholpen, maar het was wel allemaal zeer constructief. Het team was in staat om nieuwe onderdelen mee te brengen en het is mooi om deze te testen."

"Al met al was het een goede week. We gaan nu terug naar de fabriek om de data te analyseren, uiteindelijk is dat het waar testen over gaat", sloot de man uit Kings Lynn af.

    Goede gozer. Denk dat Mercedes nog heel veel plezier van hem gaat hebben en Bottas 4.0 en Ocon 6.1 snel vergeten zal zijn als hij in 2021 bij het team komt.

      Vooralsnog doet Bottas precies wat 'ie moet doen en zie ik Mercedes de continuïteit niet zomaar op het spel zetten. Wellicht na komend seizoen in het geval dat ze geen kampioen worden. Dan moet het team sowieso iets doen. Zo ver is het echter nog niet.

      Bottas is de perfecte 2e coureur. Russel zal hongerig zijn en meer voor eigen succes gaan.

    Hopelijk is Williams dit jaar een stuk compitatiever en in staat om wat punten te sprokkelen. Het zou leuk zijn wanner er ook in het middenveld en achteraan flink gestreden wordt!

    Wat zonde dat het ooit zo grote Williams nu blij is dat het de aansluiting heeft gevonden, ondanks dat het nog steeds de langzaamste auto van het veld heeft. Williams zou minimaal een stevige middenmoter behoren te zijn.

      mario ; Haas is in mijn ogen geen privé team, is eerder het jonge broertje van Mercedes, vooral dit seizoen omdat ze bijna een complete kopie hebben gekocht van de Mercedes van vorig jaar.
      Ik vind het echt jammer dat zoiets volgens de regels is, straks gaan de rest van de middenmoot/laatste van het veld hetzelfde doen en hebben we 3 topteams en de rest kopieën ervan.
      Williams is echt nog een privé team, ontwikkelen en bouwen vrijwel alles in huis buiten de motor.

      Als je gaat kijken zijn er op dit moment eigenlijk maar 3 fabrieks teams

      Ferrari
      Mercedes
      Renault

      Deze 3 zijn automerken en rijden met een eigen ontwikkeld chassis, en aandrijflijn.
      de andere 7 zijn privateers (waarbij ik mclaren een half fabrieksteam vind om dat het wel een autofabrikant is)

      de andere 6 zijn geen automerk, maar gewoon een team die van alles in kopen, en zelf ontwikkelen.
      RBR & SAT krijgen welliswaar dezelfde vergaande fabriekssteun en er word rekening met het chassis gehouden maar dat maakt het nog geen fabrieksteam
      de andere 4 hebben ook gewoon ondersteuning vanuit de fabriek aangezien de motoren geleast worden en ingesteld en onderhouden door monteurs in dienst van het merk motor

      Waarom onrealistisch? Over 5 jaar zou dat gewoon kunnen. De komende 2 jaar zeker niet denk ik. Maar als ze ineens wat vinden en dat budget gedoe werkt echt dan kan dat gewoon. kleine kans maar niet echt onmogelijk.

    Hopelijk kan Williams knokken met de rest van het veld. Het was zonde om een talent als Russell de hele tijd achteraan te zien rijden zonder dat je hem echt ziet racen met anderen.
