Carlos Sainz in onderhandeling over nieuw contract met McLaren

Carlos Sainz heeft onthuld dat hij al in gesprek is met McLaren over een nieuw contract. De naam van de Spanjaard al enkele weken rond voor een overstap naar Ferrari voor 2021, om hem te koppelen aan Charles Leclerc.

De 25-jarige Sainz zei dat hij niet veel aandacht besteedt aan de geruchten. "Met alle respect, maar wat journalisten roepen en schrijven, daar geloof ik niet direct in. Wat ik moet doen is gefocust blijven op mijn werk met McLaren. Ik wil vooruitgang blijven zien en me blijven verbeteren als coureur."

"Op de middellange of lange termijn zie ik mijn toekomst niet in een ander team dan McLaren. We zitten in de eerste fase van onderhandelingen over een nieuw contract, dus laat een beetje tijd erover heen gaan en zie wat er gebeurt", voegde Sainz eraan toe.

Loftrompet voor teambaas Andreas Seidl

Hij zei dat hij tot nu toe onder de indruk is van het werk van de nieuwe McLaren-teambaas Andreas Seidl.

"Ik zie een team dat zeer open staat voor kritiek, maar kritiek om een beter team te maken in plaats van iets negatiefs. Het maakt deel uit van een nieuwe filosofie die Andreas heeft uitgevoerd. Er is zelfs een nieuw dieet voor de monteurs, nieuwe schema's, er zijn veel veranderingen om het team veel professioneler en vollediger te maken, het is iets waar ik graag aan meehelp."

  Hij had ook een goed jaar bij Renault, Ik zou zeggen doen en gelijk voor 3 jaar. En natuurlijk de ontsnapping clausule dat als een beter team komt dat ie dan mag overstappen.

  Als Sainz en zijn team slim zijn (en dat zijn ze vast) dan gaan ze voor een meerjarig contract bij McLaren met een ontsnappingsclausule wanneer een Top-3 team zich meld. Maar goed, zoals gezegd, slim zullen ze vast wel zijn en alles wat Carlos moet doen is snel zijn en consequent presteren.
  
  Vroeger was ik niet echt een Sainz-fan, maar ik begin hem steeds meer te mogen en ik hoop hem nog lang in de F1 te zien

  Het duurt niet lang meer voordat McLaren zelf weer een top3 team is.
  Dus zo'n clausule is niks waard ;)

Even afwachten hoe Sainz zijn momentum doorpakt in de MCL35. Ik gun hem een nieuw contract bij dat team. En dan in 2021 een nieuwe teamgenoot ernaast in de vorm van Lewis Hamilton, die na zijn 7 wereldtitels het circeltje rond gaat maken bij McLaren waar het allemaal begon.
En ja, volgend jaar dan vervolgens Vettel en Russel in de Mercedes.

Ik gok HAM naar McL terug op zijn oude nest.
WK zal hij niet worden maar ziet het als zijn taak om McL te helpen verder te ontwikkelen.
En soort van Schumacher rol bij Mercedes.
