Barcelona heeft twee opties: Race verplaatsen naar tweede helft 2020 of uitstellen naar 2021

Barcelona blijft in gesprek over hoe de situatie van het coronavirus de komende Spaanse Grand Prix zal beïnvloeden. Met Australië, Bahrein, Vietnam en China allemaal uitgesteld, werd gemeld dat Zandvoort en Barcelona - de eerste twee races in Europa - de volgende zouden zijn om van de kalender af te halen.

Race uitstellen

Volgens manager Joan Fontsere van het Circuit de Catalunya zijn er nog steeds gesprekken die op dit moment plaatsvinden. "We hebben ons beschikbaar gesteld aan Liberty Media", vertelde hij aan de lokale RAC 1-radio.

"We hebben met hen gesproken om de mogelijkheid te bespreken om de race te verplaatsen naar de tweede helft van 2020, of de mogelijkheid om de race uit te stellen tot 2021 ligt ook op tafel," voegde Fontsere eraan toe. "Toen gaf de Formule 1 een verklaring af waarin staat dat het seizoen niet zal beginnen tot eind mei, wat betekent dat onze race op 10 mei niet zal worden gehouden op 10 mei."

"Nu zijn we bezig om de mogelijkheden en opties te onderzoeken. De logistiek en ons klimaat betekenen dat we veel keuzes hebben omdat we ons gemakkelijk kunnen aanpassen aan een andere tijd van het jaar. In de komende dagen zullen we met alle betrokken partijen praten, maar het is duidelijk dat de situatie de verwachtingen van de hele wereld overtreft."

Harde klap door coronavirus

Fontsere gaf toe dat de situatie door het coronavirus een harde financiële klap zal zijn. "De daling van de tickets voor de Formule 1 en MotoGP is krankzinnig. Het is erg moeilijk en zal zeer moeilijk zijn om de commerciële activiteit van die dagen te herstellen. Het zal ook erg moeilijk zijn om de tribunes vol te krijgen en dat is iets wat we ook met de Formule 1 hebben besproken."

Heeft totaal geen zin al die afspraken, het gaat erom om de dag dat iedereen en alles weer veilig over de wereld kan reizen, en die weet niemand, dus kan je ook niets afspreken.

  Wat wel kan, iemand zei al zoiets, wat er dit jaar nog gereden kan worden, daar voeg je 2021 aan toe, misschien dan meer GP's, maar met de autos van 2020, kost het minste en wanneer weer veilig voor iedereen kan de show weer beginnen.

  gisteren de reviews van seizoenen 2007 en 2008 teruggekeken, gave seizoenen, lekkere geluiden, mooie strijd aan het front met McLaren/Ferrari/BMW..
  werd echt helemaal krankjorum van al die corona paniek op nieuws en social media. Als het virus je al niet pakt dan raak je compleet in een depressie...

  O.a. Spanje '81, Monza '88, Hongarije '89,Spa '92.
  (Grappig dat je de commentator ook in '81 al hoort zeggen dat het behoorlijk lastig is om achter een andere wagen te rijden door de turbulente lucht.)
  Gewoon ff weer eens terug in de tijd.
  Leuk om weer eens te zien,maar baal behoorlijk van deze drooglegging van F1,maar ook van andere sporten.
  Hopelijk is dit snel voorbij,maar ben er bang voor.....

  Ik heb vorige week jaaroverzicht seizoen 1982 gekeken (echt een aanrader) gisteren seizoen 1983 en vandaag verder met 1984. Als je die jaren vergelijkt met nu...echte bikkels in dien auto's... Geen domme strafjes of safetycars gewoon rammen met dat ding!... en dat ook nog eens op gevaarlijke circuits.
  
  Echte mannen toen, tegenwoordig leven we in een softe verwijfde samenleving waar al heel snel wordt geklaagd.

  groep C sportscar kampioenschap met grote merken,
  de groep B rallycars met een dikke 600 pk, was ook een gekkenhuis tot het eind 86 werd afgeschaft omdat het te gevaarlijk geworden was

Circuit de Catalunia heeft met pijn en moeite nog 1 jaar verlenging bij de FOM eruit weten te persen met een shitload aan overheidsteun. Deze GP is op sterven na dood. Trekt nog amper 90.000 toeschouwers... In de glorietijd van Alonso waren er maar liefst 140.000 toeschouwers op race-zondag. Deze Corona-klap zou wel eens de genadeklap kunnen zijn voor de Catalanen.
