Kamui Kobayashi gaat voor 'hattrick' in Istanbul Park

Kamui Kobayashi scoorde vorig jaar in Turkije zijn allereerste punt in de Formule 1 met een tiende plaats. Dit seizoen is hij beter begonnen en eindigde in Maleisië in China al in de punten. Ook in Australië scoorde de Japanner punten, maar wegens diskwalificatie van het team werden deze hem weer afgenomen. Voor volgend weekend hoopt Kobayashi een hattrick te scoren en driemaal op rij in de punten te eindigen.

"Nadat ik was tijd in Tokio heb doorgebracht, kijk ik nu erg uit naar de volgende race in Istanbul. Het is een uitdagende baan en het is één van m'n favorieten", vertelde Kobayashi. "Vorig jaar presteerden we hier redelijk goed en scoorde ik het eerste punt van het jaar. Dat was toen een grote opluchting en het is nog steeds een goede herrinering."

"Er zijn enkele hogesnelheidsbochten in het circuit waar ik wel van hou. Ik denk dat we behoorlijk competitief kunnen zijn in Turkije. Wat betreft de bandensituatie vind ik het moeilijk te voorspellen welke strategie het beste uit zal pakken. Het gripniveau is op dit circuit vaak erg laag, dat betekend dat veel auto's al snel gaan glijden. Het zal cruciaal worden om de voorbanden te gaan sparen tijdens de race."
