Uitstel Grand Prix van Vietnam pijnigt Hermann Tilke

Circuitontwerper Hermann Tilke baalt enorm dat de voor dit weekend geplande Grand Prix van Vietnam is uitgesteld. Door de wereldwijde uitbraak van het coronavirus kon de Formule 1 weinig anders dan het eerste evenement op het nieuwe stratencircuit van Hanoi uitstellen. Desalniettemin is het een hard gelag voor Tilke en zijn medewerkers.

Eigenlijk hadden de Formule 1-auto's vandaag voor het eerst door de straten van Hanoi moeten scheuren. Persbureau DPA zocht Tilke op om hem te vragen hoe hij zich voelt nu dat moment tot nader order is uitgesteld. "Het doet enorm pijn, want we hebben er met zijn allen ontzettend hard aan gewerkt. We hebben nog steeds engineers en architecten ter plaatse. De afgelopen anderhalf jaar hebben we er bloed, zweet en tranen in gestoken."

"De constructie van een circuit verloopt nooit soepel. Het doet pijn dat het moment van beloning nu langer op zich laat wachten." Misschien is het genot straks wel groter zodra Vietnam de Formule 1 wel kan ontvangen. "Als je ziet dat de eerste wagens de baan opdraaien voor de eerste vrije training op de vrijdag en de racestart op zondag, dat zijn dan de hoogtepunten", aldus Tilke.

  Hanoi Hilton schijnt fantastisch te zijn,
  Mijn Amerikaanse neef heeft er in 1968 gezeten en heeft nog nooit zo'n bijzondere behandeling gehad als in ieder ander hotel waar hij heeft gezeten.

Niet zo zeuren Hermann, het goede weer komt eraan, geen evenementen, geen terrasjes, niet de kroeg in, niet op restaurant, het is voor iedereen erg dus hoepel op met je Hanoi

'Tilke en zijn team'.... Al jaren heeft Tilke veel teveel invloed op de nieuwe circuit bouw. Hierdoor krijgen we vaak (op enkele uitzonderingen na) veel van hetzelfde.
Wat dat betreft zijn de oudere circuits een verademing qua diversiteit.

  Dat is dan weer niet Tilke zijn schuld maar van de circuits die hem en zijn bedrijf inhuren voor een ontwerp. Het zou wel fijn geweest zijn als minder circuits hem ingehuurd hadden. Maar welke andere zou je willen voorstellen. Zoveel bedrijven ontwerpen er geen F1 circuits

  Dat betekent niet dat andere bedrijven niet in staat zijn om een circuit te ontwerpen. De vraag is of die andere bedrijven een reeële kans krijgen of dat landen eerder zullen kiezen voor de makkelijkste weg.

  Die keuze is toch iets gecompliceerder. Er word veel (en echt veel) geld gereserveerd om een circuit aan te leggen en er is weinig marge voor fouten en het moet er ook echt meteen staan.
  De organisaties kiezen voor zekerheid ,dus zoek je een bedrijf dat het al eens eerder gedaan hebt en dus dat je weet dat het er op tijd ligt.
  
  Als je met zulke grote bedragen moet werken ga je voor zekerheid. Niet voor japie om de hoek die ook zegt dat hij het wel zou kunnen. Helaas zijn er niet veel circuits te bouwen dus kom je vaak bij 1 of meerdere bedrijven uit
