Na de eerdere aankondiging van de internationale autosportbond FIA dat de shutdown-periode met twee weken verlengd is naar een totaal van vijf weken, heeft Scuderia Alpha Tauri bekendgemaakt wat dat voor hen concreet inhoudt. De Italiaanse renstal houdt de fabriek in Faenza in elk geval tot 1 mei dicht.

De Formule 1 heeft de verplichte zomerstop naar voren gehaald om ruimte te creëren om in de maand augustus uitgestelde races in te halen. Normaal gesproken gaan de fabrieken van de teams in die maand verplicht twee weken dicht. Door de uitbraak van het coronavirus is de Formule 1 genoodzaakt geweest om het hele schema overhoop te halen.

Het is nog altijd niet duidelijk wanneer er weer geracet kan worden. Vooralsnog staat de Grand Prix van Frankrijk op 28 juni als eerstvolgende evenement op de kalender. Gezien de verlengde lockdown in dat land, restricties voor grote evenementen en het uitstel van de Tour de France is het hoogst onzeker dat het raceweekend op Paul Ricard wel gewoon door kan gaan.
