Williams waarschuwt Nicholas Latifi voor gedrag in simraces

Nicholas Latifi heeft van Williams te horen gekregen dat hij goed op zijn woorden en gedrag moet letten tijdens zijn deelname aan online races. De Britse renstal heeft geen trek in een gevalletje Kyle Larson, de NASCAR-coureur die zwaar onder vuur kwam te liggen omdat hij een racistische term uitsprak tijdens de live uitzending van een simrace.

Kyle Larson raakte daardoor zijn sponsors en zijn baan kwijt. Williams wil Latifi daarvoor behoeden. De Canadees vertelde aan La Presse: "Na het incident met Kyle Larson heeft het team ons een bericht gestuurd om ons eraan te herinneren hoe we ons behoren te gedragen tijdens die simraces, richtlijnen of een soort gedragscode."

"Persoonlijk weet ik dondersgoed wat acceptabel is en wat niet. Ik vertegenwoordig een team waar allerlei sponsors aan verbonden zijn en allemaal hebben ze een imago dat ze willen behouden. Ik weet dat ik voorzichtig moet zijn, maar dat betekent niet dat ik niet mezelf kan zijn en een leuke tijd kan hebben met simracen."

      Volgens mij was het gevalletje Williams stuurt gewoon een reminder van gedragsregels naar alle coureurs en Latifi is de enige die erover spreekt....ofwel het was niet direct alleen voor Nicolas.

    Natuurlijk moet men oppassen met wat men zegt als coureur zijnde. Je hebt met sponsoren enz te maken. Maar van de andere kant vond ik dat wat Larson is overkomen erg overtrokken. In de VS zijn zo idioot hypocriet dat het gewoon te belachelijk voor woorden is. Ik ben meerdere keren in de VS geweest en ken veel mensen uit de VS, maar ze zijn zo fake. Als maar wat. In het openbaar zo schijnheilig als maar iets en in hun eigen omgeving slaan ze 180gr om. De term Nigger is niet alleen een scheldwoord zoals het daar gebruikt wordt, het is hetzelfde als je hier tegen iemand “enne pik” zegt of iets. Veel jongeren gebruiken het woord en het maakt niet uit welke huidskleur of wat dan ook hebt.
