'Williams en Haas F1 kunnen ten onder gaan in deze crisis'

De Formule 1 dreigt teams te verliezen als de coronacrisis nog lang aanhoudt. Bij de kleinere renstallen staat het water tot aan de lippen en de in de koningsklasse van de autosport actieve automerken grijpen deze situatie misschien aan om uit de Formule 1 te stappen. Oud-coureur Ralf Schumacher durft eigenlijk voor geen van de teams zijn hand in het vuur te steken.

Voor teams als Williams en Haas F1 is de nood volgens hem het hoogst. Ralf Schumacher zegt daarover in Bild: "We zijn niet ver verwijderd van een situatie waarin teams om zullen vallen. Als het seizoen niet snel begint, dan weet ik niet hoe Williams het gaat overleven. Of Haas F1, dat volgens het Amerikaanse principe van hire and fire werkt. Deze teams kunnen ten onder gaan in deze crisis, al voorzie ik niet alleen problemen voor de kleintjes."

"Ik geloof dat het zeker mogelijk is dat autofabrikanten hun conclusies trekken en aan het eind van het jaar de Formule 1 vaarwel zeggen om geld te besparen. Dat gebeurde tien jaar geleden bijvoorbeeld met BMW, dus die mogelijkheid bestaat altijd. Al zie ik Mercedes niet zo snel besluiten om de Formule 1 te verlaten, gezien het succes dat ze de voorbije jaren hebben geboekt."

Klantenauto's

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner en Ferrari-collega Mattia Binotto opperden om tijdelijk volledige klantenauto's toe te staan, om de kosten voor de kleine teams te drukken. Ralf Schumacher is voorstander. "Een briljant idee. Een team als Williams komt beter voor de dag als ze gewoon een wagen van Red Bull Racing kopen in plaats van zelf een bolide te bouwen. En het scheelt ze ook nog eens een hoop uitgaven."

ik deel die angst van Ralf Schumacher wel, maar weinig teams zijn een zekerheid voor de toekomst, en dan nog zien sommige 'kenners' (waaronder een aantal hier) het belang er niet van in om plannen gereed te hebben om zsm te racen, nee seizoen 2020 moet maar gelijk helemaal worden afgeschreven...

ik deel die angst van Ralf Schumacher wel, maar weinig teams zijn een zekerheid voor de toekomst, en dan nog zien sommige 'kenners' (waaronder een aantal hier) het belang er niet van in om plannen gereed te hebben om zsm te racen, nee seizoen 2020 moet maar gelijk helemaal worden afgeschreven...

teams in williams die wilt niet afhankelijk worden zoals de teams als redbull. eigenlijk als het aanmijn ligt kunnen ze beter de F1 teams auto's bouwen voor de F2 hebben die tenminste ook meer slagkracht ontwikkeling van jeugd :) Geloof nie dat teams zoals williams uberhaupt wel willen. Haas die koopt al auto's ergens van dallara , en dallara bouwt niet alleen f1 auto's dus die hebben wel iets meer slagen om te kunnen overleven. Williams niet. testen leken goed; maar in echte competitie is afwachten.

Ja leuk. Nee doe maar niet. Dat zou lekker zijn: RB geeft kaptitalen uit aan de ontwikkeling en alles wat erbij hoort en dan kan straks elke miljardair een RB F1 wagen kopen en er de beste rijders inzetten.

  Williams is nog al eigenwijs en maakt liever heel veel kosten, door zelf onderdelen te ontwikkelen en niet kant en klaar te kopen.

  Volgens mij was het de bedoeling de auto van het jaar ervoor te kopen. Dat stuit op issues als er regelaanpassingen zijn natuurlijk. Maar normaal is de gekochte auto dan minder.
  Zelf moet ik er nog een mening over vormen. Ik zag wel ergens een reactie die echt voor dit idee spreekt. Een nieuw team zou door het kopen van twee auto's mee kunnen doen, wat puntjes sprokkelen, wat leren en tenslotte zelf aanpassingen gaan doorvoeren tot ze zelfstandig een auto zouden kunnen bouwen. Zo iets. Het zou makkelijker zijn in te stappen. Zonder er te veel over hebben nagedacht vond ik het wel een goed idee. Of het haalbaar is.... geen idee nog.
