'Budgetlimiet in drie jaar van 145 miljoen naar 130 miljoen'

De Formule 1 heeft een definitief voorstel voor de invoering van een budgetlimiet voor 2021 en de jaren daarna verstuurd naar de teams. BBC Sport heeft dat voorstel ingezien en daaruit blijkt dat de koningsklasse van de autosport inderdaad mikt op een budgetplafond voor 145 miljoen dollar voor volgend jaar. Oorspronkelijk was een limiet van 175 miljoen dollar ingesteld.

Door de uitbraak van het coronavirus en de daarmee gepaard gaande economische malaise belandden de plannen om het budgetlimiet te verlagen in een stroomversnelling. En het stopt niet bij 145 miljoen dollar. Het plan is om het budgetplafond voor 2022 te verlagen naar 140 miljoen dollar en voor de periode 2023-2025 naar 130 miljoen dollar. De teams hebben dit voorstel in beraad en zullen daar later een stem over uitbrengen.

Het is vooral interessant om te kijken hoe Ferrari hierop reageert. De Scuderia verzette zich het hevigst tegen een budgetlimiet van lager dan 150 miljoen dollar. De internationale autosportbond FIA heeft in ieder geval voorgesorteerd op een gebrek aan unanimiteit. De federatie introduceerde vorige maand een clausule waardoor unanieme steun niet meer noodzakelijk is, steun van de meerderheid is voldoende.

Windtunnel-tijd

De Formule 1 heeft daarnaast ook plannen om de tijd die teams in de windtunnel door mogen brengen anders in te richten. De eindstand van het constructeurskampioenschap wordt dan bepalend voor de hoeveelheid tijd die renstallen aan aerodynamisch onderzoek mogen spenderen. De gedachte is dat dit de voorkant en de achterkant van de grid dichter bij elkaar zal brengen.

De top drie teams van het ene seizoen mag in het daaropvolgende seizoen bijvoorbeeld nog maar 70 procent van een vastgestelde standaard aan tijd in de windtunnel doorbrengen. Het team dat als vierde geëindigd is, mag 80 procent van die standaard in de windtunnel testen. Daarna gaat het per positie met 5 procent omhoog. Het team dat als tiende en laatste geëindigd is, mag 40 procent meer aerodynamisch onderzoek doen dan de top drie.

Hoe wil de FIA dat controleren btw, krijgt ieder team een tijdklok op de windtunnel?
Heb elders ook gelezen dat ze eraan denken om de leider in het kampioenschap minder eten te geven

Dat meer / minder testen in de windtunnel komt bij mij over als een reversed grid optie..
rondom belachelijk dat er naar dit soort maatregelen gekeken wordt.

Wat een onzin zeg, da's net zo groot als de begroting van Ajax, terwijl de F1 een veel groter bereik heeft als sport en de onkosten al snel vele malen hoger zijn.

Als een team niet minimaal 300 miljoen bij elkaar kan schrapen dan hebben ze niets te zoeken in de F1, dat zou de standaard moeten zijn.

  Dat zou dus betekenen dat alleen de top 3 nu echt wat te zoeken hebben in de Formule 1 en de rest dus mag opzouten... Vreemde redenering van je...

Belachelijk, Sven Kramer wordt toch ook niet in zijn trainingen beperkt? Of 10 seconden later starten?
Het team dat het beste werk levert dient beloond te worden met prijzen. De andere teams moeten dan maar beter werk leveren. Voor gelijke kansen moet het startpunt gelijk, dus ieder team evenveel uit de pot van Liberty Media.
