Agressief ontwikkelingsschema Renault kan bij het grof vuil

Het team van Renault leefde met een goed gevoel toe naar de seizoensopener die halverwege maart in Australië plaats had moeten vinden. De Franse renstal had in de wintertests een degelijke indruk achtergelaten en ze waren hoopvol op een betere campagne dan in 2019, toen het fabrieksteam van het Franse automerk geklopt werd door klantenteam McLaren.

"Ik moet de verwachtingen temperen, maar we hadden inderdaad een goed gevoel aan de tests overgehouden", vertelt Renault-teambaas aan Cyril Abiteboul. "We hadden al onze agendapunten afgevinkt, maar je bent en blijft natuurlijk afhankelijk van wat de rest doet. De vraag hoe competitief onze auto was ten opzichte van de overige teams was nog onbeantwoord en we dachten daar in de kwalificatie in Melbourne achter te komen. Het kwam er niet van, dus we zijn reuze benieuwd."

Renault zal net als iedereen nog even geduld op moeten brengen voordat ze antwoorden over de pikorde krijgen. Het coronavirus heeft ervoor gezorgd dat alles stil is komen te liggen. Ook in de fabrieken van de Formule 1-teams mag niet aan de wagens (of motoren) gewerkt worden. Daardoor kan het agressieve ontwikkelingsschema - met omvangrijke pakketten die gepland stonden voor Vietnam en Nederland - van Renault bij het grof vuil. Het team moet terug naar de tekentafel.

Abiteboul: "We hadden inderdaad een zeer agressief ontwikkelingsschema voor ogen. We kunnen niet wachten totdat we weer de fabriek in kunnen duiken om die activiteiten te hervatten. In de windtunnel zagen de cijfers er hoopgevend uit en we waren druk bezig om de pakketten te produceren. Dat hangt nu allemaal in het luchtledige, maar zo is de situatie nu eenmaal. Anderen hebben veel grotere zorgen of frustraties, we moeten accepteren dat we geduld moeten hebben."

Abiteboul heeft weer een smoes gevonden om zijn baan te behouden. Hoe dom kunnen ze zijn bij Renault om die man aan het lijntje te houden. Hij barst van de leugens, die totaal doorzichtig zijn, maar hij kan tomaten verkopen voor perziken.

Volgens mij waren die plannen gewoon een a4 met een paar pijlen gericht op een 1, meer niet. De ontwerpers hebben wel gewoon ouderwets kunnen tekenen en ideeen bedenken dus geen complete stilstand.

Off topic wat ik mij afbraag. Zoals het team van Redbull waar in de media Bericht word dat de Honda motor in de bochten dat rocheltje blijft houden, en waarbij ze vermoeden dat er warme lucht over de achtervleugel word geblazen.

Stel dat dat nu helemaal onzin is geweest, zoi Red bull het dan nu toch gaan ontwikkelen omdat het idee nog niet zo gek klinkt??

  dat is moeilijk te zeggen, je hebt hier geen insiders van red bull. Maar ikzelf zou een rocheltje in de motor heel moeilijk kunnen koppelen aan warme lucht over de vleugel heen blazen.
